Price to attend a ball game

Yeah this is major rip off and major reason i watch from home

I dunno. I get it if you take the food costs out of context it seems exorbitant. It is.

But let’s say 10 for the game and 20 for food.

That’s dinner and a 3-4 hour live outdoor unique show for 30 bucks that provides an experience unavailable anywhere else.

It’s not that bad really as long as you value what it is.

A movie is 10-15 bucks. And food is just as bad or worse. For a 1-2 hr show that is self contained and if you wait for a couple months it is cheaper and you can have it at home.

Yes if you compare watching the game at home and eating and drinking what you have at home and lay for food at home. It is stupidly expensive. But if you value it as a unique special experience where you can get food and a one time only event. It’s pretty good at 30 bucks.

For me. I’m happy to pay way more than that for such unique experiences. Which is why I pay for higher price seats and eat more. I just go less often because I don’t live near St. Louis or any NL clubs to make me want to go more often and pay less.

Family of 5 at 30 per for 150 total for a special not at your house and with all the distractions and commonality and banality of home where you can get a family centered unique experience along with a low quality but site specific and unique dinner is pretty cool.

Can or should you do it every day? No. But so what?

I’d get to the game via the same way I get to a movie. Or even take public transportation here in Detroit

And regardless of the slight difference in price of food. The point is still what you value and for how much more than other things.

As for parking. Sure it can be expensive or you can park and take public transportation depending on your park.

Also a movie is not a family experience. It’s not for interaction and family time. You may all go together but you don’t spend time together. You are just watching a big tv in silence.

Eat out of your house it will cost money. Even at McDonald’s you can barely get a meal for 5 bucks and you get the pleasure of eating ina McDonald’s and of your car in the larking lot of a theater.

So 5 bucks x5 plus 10 bucks x 5 is 75bucks

Or double that for a truly unique experience where talking and true family time can be had.

I think the experience of a baseball game and eating together is worth twice the experience given by a movie and McDonald’s

Compare it all to watching at home and prices of mlb tv and grocery prices divided up. Sure it’s expensive.

But if it’s an experience and something unique and different to offer the family that can actually allow you to have family time outside the home and what the home can’t offer then you have aprettt good deal.

Or if you don’t value it that highly or can do better elsewhere. Go for it. I work at an art museum so please come by and do your free time with the family with us if you like. My museum is free to the tri counties but the food isn’t free and parking costs money unless you use public transport. I’d appreciate any and all visitors.

On the other side of the coin, in his second day of his family-friendly pitch, Ricky Horton reminded listeners today that the Cardinals are the only team in MLB that allows fans to bring in their own food and drink. That is a partial answer for the budget-conscious.

Either Horton is oblivious or he’s just another puppet of the company. Many mlb teams allow individuals to bring in food and seal non alcoholic drinks. You can’t come in with a large pizza but if a family of 4 each brings in a subway 6 inch a bottled soda or water and a cookie in a bag they’ll more than likely be allowed in.

However They may be trying to even things out due to some of the reduced pricing. I usually pay between $29-40 for a ticket in my favorite section for a padres game. Prices depend on the day of week, promotion ect. For example a large order of Fries was $6. I usually drink domestic in the park. a 16 oz craft draft is $14. A domestic 25 oz can is $12.50. My favorite Roman slice is $11 compared to a slice of pepperoni which is $8.

Bottom line is they’ll get you one way or another if you let them. Best idea is eat before you go or bring something in. If you want to drink beer then drink cheap domestic. If not then just buy a water.

But I think by the pricing options they are. 10 and 5 dollar seats are available that’s what they said.
Mature you can’t sit behind the dugout but going to a game is still possible

But eating before hand or being food in seems the only way to keep it affordable as an option for going all the time.

Is that really a big deal? If you are going to games all the time then no matter what economic status you’d be hurting after a while I’d think.

I don’t think the pricing is knocking out low or middle Income from going to the game. Perhaps it is not letting them eat for cheap too. But if I lived close I’d go far more often and plan accordingly for food and drink.

Going to the game is pretty awesome.
