Well deserved for Montero. Hopefully he’ll keep improving and hit his way to Springfield by next year.

In other 3B news, Malcom Nunez is 3-5 with 2 HR and a double, and 8 RBI today. His batting average is up to .447 and he has 39 RBIs in 28 games. Still very early but this could be a special pickup from this year’s J2 period.

I’d love to see Montero keep pace with his Peoria #s at PB. This season the FSL has chewed up a few of our good prospects…. Yepes, Pinder, Carlson, Robertson and Trosclair are all on a bumpy ride.

Peoria will sorely miss that big bat in the middle of their lineup.

I dont think anyone hit .447 in my stratomatic league – and that was with me re-rolling the dice often for the players I liked!

Sets up nicely if they want it to. Montero to PB. Gorman to Peoria. Nunez to JC.

Nyquis, Carlson, Pinder, and Trosclair are all above league average hitters according to wrc+.

Nice stick, but Elvis Montero needs definite defensive work. Nice prospect!

I feel like Gorman has been getting all the love in JC but Cedeno has been keeping pace pretty well even if a year or 2 older.

CC, Maybe I shouldn’t have included Pinder and Carlson. If they weren’t at PB, I would be expecting more from these two prospects.

    I agree, Jager. Only 19 vs. 18.

The Cardinal Nation’s latest top-50 prospect list doesn’t include Cedeno at all. Cedeno should be higher in the next one.

Gorman was #5, but should move up with Reyes and Hicks coming off.

Good test coming up for Montero since PB is known to be a hitter’s graveyard.

Wow, that’s a pretty big jump for Nolan, and we’ll get to see where he’s at for the rest of the year. If nothing else, he’s coming in with confidence and hopefully we’ll see that translate in Peoria.

Time to move Leandro Cedeno there as well. He’s a power hitting prospect but even though he’s only 19, this is his 4th yer in the organization so in one more yr he’ll be Rule 5 eligible.

get Cedeno up there too…i dont want to lose him without seeing him against better competition…this little look might set him up well for winter league and a quick advancement next year if need be… IMO

Power power Power! Not only is this organization dripping wet with young power pitching, but now the pond appears well stocked with blossoming young power hitters. I second Nyquist’s sentiments regarding Cedeno. Anyone know if he might possibly inhabit the same genealogical family tree as ex-Astro-Redbirds star power hitter, Caesar Cedeno? As far as Gorman is concerned, he’ll gobble Midwest League pitching up for lunch……and devour FSL pitching as dessert. And last but not least, this thread has been terribly terribly remiss in not making any mention whatsoever of Alexander “The Great” Fagalde’s latest outing, as he once again tamed the opposition into complete submission. Can we please end this madness and get Fagalde to Springfield where he presently belongs???? The man needs a challenge!

Fagalde’s story has been “great”. Last season he pitched like a 30th rd. pick that he was, this season he’s like a 3rd rd. pick.

Fagalde spent a month and a half at Extended Spring Training to start off ’18. He entered the rotation at Peoria in mid-May without any fanfare and after 2 1/2 months of chewing up the Mid-West League, he was sent up to Palm Beach on Aug 1. FSL is more age appropriate for the 24 year old. His first two starts at PB have earned him 66 & 76 game starts.

This has been a magical ride for the 6’3″ sophomore, and should get him onto the top-50 prospects list. It will be hard to place him there…. I’m guessing low to mid 30’s.

So smooth….so eloquently stated, Nyquist!. You should have been a writer.

P.S. A little sneak preview of my new Top 50 Cardinal Prospect List reveals Alexander Fagalde to be presently ensconced in the #23 slot.
