DSL offThe July 24 game that was suspended has been moved to August 3. The regularly scheduled game today has been moved to August 8.
Montero 4 doubles today. Gorman 4 hits with 2 doubles, HR, and a single.
Couple young hitters with big days.
Baker and Gonzalez with multi-hit games on either side of Montero.
Nice middle of the lineup.The new analytic dynamics are taking hold all the way down to the rookie level. Schmid pitches the first 5 innings for Johnson City and is pulled after only 74 pitches. Gave up only 4 hits and 1 run.
4 pitchers then took one inning each to complete the game. Cookie cutter.Seth Elledge with his first appearance in Springfield. He gave up a run (unearned) but won the game after Edman and Arozarena homered in the bottom of the 9th.
As VegasJim mentioned, Elvis did not leave the building yesterday afternoon, but he did nearly the next best thing……4 times! Not one….not two….not three…..but four ringing doubles from Chiefs star 3rd baseman Elehuris “Elvis” Montero led the way to a 12-3 thrashing of Clinton that undoubtedly left the LumberKing faithful “All Shook Up” at Ashford University Field. Yariel Gonzalez chipped in with a mammoth 3 run blow and Nick Plummer a solo shot to help make a winner out of Johan Oviedo for the 7th time this year vs just as many setbacks. Zach Prendergast and Kodi Whitley mopped up with two quality innings apiece to help keep this game a total laugher in Peoria’s favor. We get these guys again tonight and you just know these LumberKings are going to be seeing red…..so let’s stick it to them again! As a quick aside, just like Saturday night when I thought I saw the home plate ump powering his nose in between innings, it happened again yesterday with the 1st base umpire! It’s the craziest thing…..it looks like the ump is quickly looking into one of those small compact mirrors and then……of all things, powering his nose. If anyone can shed some light on this please inform.
