7:15 p.m. RHP Jack Flaherty (2-2, 3.20) vs. RHP Jordan Lyles (2-2, 4.70) FOX Sports Midwest/KMOX
June 11, 2018 at 2:55 pm #56139Poncedeleon up and Voit down.
I assume Ponce will be in the pen?
June 11, 2018 at 3:17 pm #56141You have to feel good for Poncedeleon but i don`t see how he brings anything really helpful to the Cards except a live arm to eat some innings. He obviously has major control issues walking nearly 6 per 9 innings. He does strikeout a lot of hitters (11 per 9 innings.Wish him well.
June 11, 2018 at 3:35 pm #56145Ponce supposedly has a ++ cutter which some think will play up in the pen.
June 11, 2018 at 3:38 pm #56146You have to wonder if that would have been Helsley up if he hadnt gone on the DL yesterday.
June 11, 2018 at 3:38 pm #56147He may not be here long with 2 guya appearing almosg ready to return.
Lets hope he blows the doors off of somw guys and Holland is left down om the farm for some more fine tuning.
June 11, 2018 at 6:40 pm #56173Re: Ponce, what a difference a year makes.

stlcard25ParticipantI believe that Poncedeleon’s cutter will be a plus pitch in the big leagues if he’s given time to stick around. I’m very glad he has made it to the show!!

stlcard25ParticipantLyles has struggled to put guys away but got out of his inning unscathed. Flaherty looked good the first four batters, then gives up the homer and the scorched single. 1-0 Padres.
June 11, 2018 at 8:13 pm #56176
stlcard25ParticipantJose Martinez crushes one!! 2-1 Cards.
June 11, 2018 at 8:20 pm #56177
stlcard25ParticipantJedd Gyorko is hitting .205/.235/.244 since May 12. He has had 0 homers and only 3 extra base hits in that span. Hopefully he can turn it around soon.
June 11, 2018 at 8:45 pm #56178
stlcard25ParticipantMartinez is smoking every ball he hits. Pretty much he and Ozuna carrying the offense right now.
Speaking of, Ozuna deposits one into the left field seats for the 2 run homer. Lyles was bound to get burned after missing in the middle of the zone a ton of times tonight.
June 11, 2018 at 9:04 pm #56179
stlcard25ParticipantOh how I wish the Cards had a shutdown bullpen. Now would have been the perfect time to give Flaherty a little slack, but he’s been pitching well and it would really help if he made it through the 7th.
June 11, 2018 at 9:54 pm #56180They were joking around on mighty 1090 and Darrin Smith wanted to do an over-under on how many homers Jedd would have in the series
Jedd needed that! He’s been struggling and if Wong can’t wake his bat up we need him more than ever.
June 11, 2018 at 9:55 pm #56181Gyorko isn’t hitting much, but the hits have at least produced runs…
June 11, 2018 at 9:56 pm #56182So, what did they give the over/under as?
June 11, 2018 at 10:10 pm #56184They didn’t! They just assumed he would homer in this series.
June 11, 2018 at 10:15 pm #56186Good assumption against his old team.
June 12, 2018 at 12:01 am #56195Well it was his 9th homer against them. So they had 8 other instances make that assumption.
We really need him to get on a run. Ozuna is looking better, Carp is sort of back, Martinez is raking, Yadi seems to be ok. Munoz looks ok! We need him to step up. We can really use the jolt with other struggling.
