    Name this player.

    WAR 1.1
    AB 176
    R 27
    H 52
    AVG .295
    HR 10
    RBI 31

Hint he plays third base and is on a one year deal. He is 29 years old. He wouldn’t cost much in trade and his current team is not good. He has only made two errors this season. Would you make the move if you had the opportunity?

Current 3Bman (when he is used there):

    bWAR 1.0
    AB 69 (was injured earlier)
    R 10
    H 20
    AVG .290
    HR 4
    RBI 13
    Errors 1
    Age 29
Contract: under team control two more years plus 2020 option.

Multiple these at-bats by 2.5 (to equate them) and you have basically the same guy as above, but with a higher WAR.

    Just play Gyorko at third.

    Just play Gyorko at third.

Yep, that is a given. When everyone is healthy, you simply play Gyorko at third, DeJong at short and Wong at second. Then you primarily play JMartinez at first, with Carpenter getting occasional starts there, and an occasional start at third.

Carp also becomes the late inning defensive replacement at first in games where the Cardinals are leading.

By the way, on that final thought, Carpenter made a couple of nice defensive plays at first late in the game Saturday that left me wondering if Martinez could have handled them.

The one advantage Moose has on Gyroko is he is LH and our lineup needs more balance.

Brian, Carp should only play 1B. Let JMart plays some RF and DH on away interleague games. His bat is the only reason he is on the field.

JMart hasn’t played the OF at all this season. If I’m wrong someone correct me but I do believe he hasn’t played any OF.

I’m not saying it would be pretty but watching him play 1B isn’t pretty either.

Besides, O’Neill might make this a moot point. If he could lock down RF then Carp and JMart could platoon at 1B. I just don’t like to see Carp at 3B or 2B.

Well I mean he came up playing the OF. Why not try to him some at bat in the oF and play Carp at 1B. I’m not saying it should happen everyday or even a lot but its something I thought could be every now and then but it hasn’t happened at all.

Martinez plays LF the best out of the 3 positions he can play. He’s a major liability in RF and he showed it last year. Which If I remember correctly they quit playing him there.
