Most of the games I have watched on TV this season, including Cardinal home games, have a lot of empty seats. But then there has been a lot of cold weather the Spring.
When you think about it, baseball today really should be a 144-150 game regular season, played from mid-April to around the last week of September, with the playoffs concluding the third week of October.
Not realistic, as the game is ruled by financial considerations and thus will try to squeeze ever last dime out of a season. Plus seasonal marks would be tainted when compared to 154 and 162 game norms. But when you think of the toll the game takes on the players, especially pitchers, and the greater emphasis on the post season, not to mention the cynicism that people have regarding the long season, a roughly high-140s-low 150s game regular season makes a lot more sense.
