Looking forward to this one. Hope Mikolas can keep the ball in the park. Its my understanding there is a chance of rain tomorrow in Cincinnati.

I doubt they get this game or tomorrow’s game in. It’ll be tough with the storms here.

Carp Fowler and Wong all out today. I don’t get putting Pham 1st.

Yeah, I don’t like that batting order. I would have gone this way with that group:

    Bader
    Garcia
    Pham
    Ozuna
    Martinez
    Molina
    DeJong
    Munoz

I certainly don’t like DeJong batting second. He is basically Dave Kingman with the bat at this point.

I don’t have a problem with Norris being the closer right now because he as earned it but what are the Cards going to do with Holland? He obviously needs some work to sharpen up but it is also obvious they don’t trust him right now. We can’t pay him $14M to sit on the bench.

gs, it isn’t like the starters have been going eight innings. There will be plenty of chances for Holland to ramp up in the sixth, seventh and eighth. There is not tremendous urgency for him to close as long as Norris can hold it together.

get on a win streak and two closers is preferable, one the primary and another not to overwork him. I like the approach, ease greg in.

phams .411 obp (2017 & 18′) will play fine at leadoff.

Cards scratch out a quick run in the first as Finnegan was not sharp initially.

I don’t get why votto wants to stay with a loser and use his NTC to block any deal.

Finnegan busted Garcia up and in, and on the next pitch, Garcia went deep again!

Mikolas stuff has been better than advertised. Better velocity, good movement, good off speed stuff. If he can avoid the mistakes that have went for long balls HRs over his first couple of starts he might end up being a valuable addition.

A walk to Ozuna (his first of the year) was the last straw, as Finnegan was pulled with the score 5-0, two on and one out in T5th.

The Cardinals so badly needed this series. Finish this game out and go win tomorrow and they will be headed in the right direction.

Mikolas is at 58 pitches through 5 innings. He’s only made one bad pitch so far.

According to an ex girlfriend from cincy, who i can tell you from experience has a penchant for providing bad news, this should be an effective sweep today should we hold on as the field will be basically flooded tomorrow…

If tomorrow is rained out, then Martinez would slide to the Cubs opener. Not a bad consolation prize from missing out a potential win tomorrow if it goes that way.

Great win. Great to see the Cardinals take care of business against a team they should sweep.

Added bonus: Cubs are getting pounded by the Braves!!!

Another very good win. Nice performance by Mikolas and Garcia. Good to see Holland get some work.

We need to get the sweep tomorrow then head to Wrigley for a showdown with the surprisingly struggling Cubs. They are getting wallopped again today. :o)
