List compiled by Eric Longenhagen. Two things that jumped out right off the bat is their ranking of Knizner and Ynfante. Here is the link:

    Thanks for finding that Derek.
Interesting list. I’m glad to see Adolis Garcia get some recognition. He has the best arm I have seen in the system in years, hits the ball hard and has the speed to beat out the soft grounders when he doesn’t hit it hard. Like all young power hitters he has to continue to improve his plate discipline but he has the tools to rise fast. Hopefully he won’t go in a trade.

Thought he was low on Hudson and Gallen, maybe a little high on Sosa but maybe not with the success he is having in the Arizona Fall League.

As is always the case the future depends on how well the players make adjustments. I think most have major league potential but the guys who do the best job of adjusting will get there, those who don’t are probably looking at a cup of coffee at best.

A list that is a little different. Whether I agree or not it is refreshing sometimes to see a list that is different.

Agreed. Eric is knowledgeable. I spoke with him in Arizona and he was high enough on Knizner to consider putting him ahead of Kelly. That obviously did not happen.

Kyle Glaser of BA, who did the Cardinals Top 10 for the site, got this interesting question in the Top 10 chat a week ago:

Kyle (St. Louis): Was Andrew Knizner close to making the Top 10? Is he better than what Carson Kelly is at this time last year?

Kyle Glaser: Knizner isn’t there yet. He shows some really promising hitting skills and he’s working hard behind the plate, but there are still quite a few steps he needs to take defensively. And no, Kelly’s defense puts him way, way ahead of where Knizner is, although Knizner is a fine prospect in his own right and has a place in the Handbook.

So is Alvaro Seijas actually 5’8 or what?

Helsley Fernandez and Hudson look like key bullpen arms to me. I wish they would keep the others: Reyes, Flaherty, Hicks, and Alcantara as starters with Gomber, Gallen, and Oviedo further back.

I’ve had several of Seijas’ managers confirm he’s 6-foot-2 or taller. 5-foot-8 was his listed height as an amateur.

The Cards organization lists Seijas at 6-0. The Johnson City roster had the same. That is what we use here. (Edit: I should not have gone from memory. We actually have 6-2, 192 here. I have to try to recall from where I got that.)

Anyway, to the question, 5-8 is not accurate. Stats sites loaded 5-8 back when he signed and none of them have updated it. I find it surprising that anyone who has actually seen him thinks he is only two inches taller than Jose Altuve!

Well that’s the point. The fangraphs guy is strictly calling him a reliever based almost entirely on his height.
