Glendale Desert Dogs 9, Peoria Javelinas 8
Peoria fell to Glendale in a 9-8 heartbreaker on Saturday. The Javelinas held a four-run lead heading into the bottom of the ninth, only to lose on a pair of home runs.
Only one St. Louis Cardinals prospect appeared: second baseman Cade McGee.
McGee batted eighth in the Javelinas lineup. In his first at-bat in the top of the third, he grounded out. In the fourth inning, he was out on a sac fly, but that brought home Alex McCoy, giving the Javelinas a 3-2 lead. The second baseman walked in the top of the sixth but was out attempting to steal second base. McGee ended his day by flying out to center field.
For the game, the 23-year-old from Tucson, AZ, went 0-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly as his AFL average fell to .189.
Peoria is 13-9 in the AFL. Their next game is on Monday, November 2nd, when they face off against the Devil Dogs once again, this time on the Javelinas’ home field.
