In Saturday AFL action, Peoria fell at Mesa by a 7-3 score. Only one St. Louis Cardinals prospect appeared, centerfielder Tai Peete.
Peete was the leadoff batter. In the top of the first, he walked, stole third base and scored via Carter Graham’s sac fly, putting the Javelinas on the board first. In the third inning, when Peoria was down 3-1, the centerfielder walked, stole second and scored, helping the Javelinas pull within one.
His next two at-bats weren’t successful, as he struck out swinging in the top of the fourth and then grounded out into a double play in the sixth inning. The 21-year-old from Riverdale, GA, ended the night going 0-4.
No other Cardinal prospect played in this game.
Peoria is 9-8 in the AFL. Their next match is a home game against the Scottsdale Scorpions, on Monday, Oct. 26.
