The St. Louis Cardinals system 1-1 was on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, SS Jesús Báez, was 3-for-4 with a walk, a walkoff two-run home run and three RBI in Springfield’s Game 1 win. Other standouts: Jack Gurevitch and Cade McGee.

Memphis 4 at Nashville 5 (11 innings)
The Triple-A Redbirds fell to the Sounds by a 5-4 score in 11 innings in Nashville on Tuesday.
Starter Pete Hansen pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up three runs on five hits and struck out three.
Ryan Murphy relieved Hansen and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. St. Louis rehabber Peter Strzelecki hurled a scoreless sixth. Ryan Fernandez tossed two scoreless innings. Austin Love allowed one unearned run in two innings. Bobby Olsen yielded an unearned run in the 11th and took the walkoff loss.
Nashville went up 2-0 in the first inning.
Memphis tied the game in the second. Chase Davis singled. Zach Levenson walked. Andy Yerzy singled and Davis scored. Levenson came home on a single by Brody Moore.
The Sounds regained the lead at 3-2 in the fourth.
The Redbirds tied the game again in the seventh. Colton Ledbetter reached on an error. César Prieto singled. Ramon Mendoza singled to score Ledbetter.

As the game went into extra innings, Memphis put up a run in the top of the 10th to take a 4-3 lead. Bligh Madris was the tiebreaker runner. Davis moved Madris to third on a ground out. Levenson plated Madris on a single.

However, Nashville hit an RBI single in the home 10th against Love to re-tie the game.
Memphis failed to score in the top of the 11th. The Sounds pushed a run across on a fielders’ choice grounder in the bottom of the 11th against Olsen to win, 5-4.
The Redbirds scored four runs on 12 hits. Levenson, Yerzy, and Moore were each 2-for-4 with an RBI. Mendoza was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Prieto was 2-for-6.
Hansen made an error on a pickoff attempt. Yerzy was charged with catcher interference.
Memphis is 32-38 in the second half and is nine games back of Rochester and Indianapolis in the International League.
Wednesday’s game: at Nashville, RHP Jurrangelo Cijntje (4-9, 5.08) vs. Carlos Rodriguez RHP (0-6, 7.79) 6:35 CT.
Springfield 9, Tulsa 7 (Division Series, game one)
Behind three multi-run homers, the second half champion Cardinals beat the first half champion Drillers in the opening game of the Texas League North Division Series on Tuesday in Springfield.
Starter Yhoiker Fajardo pitched four innings, gave up three runs on five hits, walked two and fanned seven.
Nolan Sparks relieved Fajardo and threw two perfect innings with two strikeouts. Dominic Picone surrendered two runs in the seventh. Randel Clemente yielded two runs in the final two innings but still received the win.
Tulsa scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings to go ahead 3-0.
Springfield tied the game in the home fourth. Jesús Báez singled and Won-Bin Cho walked. Jack Gurevitch followed with a three-run home run.

The Cardinals added a run in the fifth to take the lead 4-3. Ryan Campos and Tai Peete walked. Campos later scored on a single by Báez.
The Drillers recaptured the lead with a two-run top of the seventh.
Springfield tied the game 5-5 with a run in the bottom of the seventh. Tai Peete and Rainiel Rodriguez singled. Báez walked. Peete came home on a wild pitch.
Tulsa came back in the top of the eighth with two runs to go up 7-5.
The Cardinals answered with two runs to tie the game again at seven apiece. Cho walked and Cade McGee followed with a two-run home run.

Springfield walked off the win in the ninth on a two-run home run by Báez for the final score of 9-7.

The offense scored nine runs on nine hits. Báez was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Rodriguez was 2-for-5. Gurevitch had three RBI. McGee drove in two.
The Cardinals are 1-0 in the Division Series and can clinch with a win on Thursday or Friday in Tulsa.
