The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-1 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield 1B Jack Gurevitch, was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the Cardinals’ win over Arkansas. Other standouts include Zach Levenson and Brandon Clarke.

The Redbirds fell to the Tides by the score of 5-3 on Friday at AutoZone Park. It was Memphis’ third consecutive loss.
Starter Jurrangelo Cijntje pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up two runs on five hits, walked two and fanned five.
St. Louis rehabber Peter Strzelecki relieved Cijntje and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Sandro Santana hurled a scoreless seventh. Ryan Fernandez relinquished three runs, two earned, in 1 2/3 innings and took the loss. Jared Shuster secured the final out of the ninth.

Norfolk went up 2-0 in the top of the first. Memphis scored three runs in the home half of the first to take the lead 3-2. Ramon Mendoza walked. Jimmy Crooks singled. Zach Levenson followed with a three-run home run.
The Tides tied the game in the eighth, then added two runs in the ninth to win the game 5-3.
The Redbirds scored three runs on six hits. Crooks was 2-for-4. Levenson had three RBI.
Dakota Harris was caught stealing. Graysen Tarlow was picked off at first base.
Mendoza made a fielding error.
Memphis is 30-37 in the second half and is 9 games back of Rochester and Scranton in the International League.
Saturday’s game: vs Norfolk, Mason Molina LHP (3-2, 5.32) vs. Trey Gibson RHP (3-6, 4.04) 6:05 CT.

The Cardinals defeated the Travelers 5-3 in Springfield on Friday.

Darlin Saladin relieved Clarke and threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. Joseph King hurled 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Randel Clemente surrendered three runs in the ninth.
Springfield took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run by Rainiel Rodriguez. They added two runs in the second to increase the lead to 3-0. Won-Bin Cho doubled. Jack Gurevitch followed with a two-run home run.

The Cardinals scored one run in the fifth to extend the lead to 4-0. Jon Jon Gazdar singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Tai Peete singled. Deniel Ortiz singled to score Gazdar.
Springfield made it 5-0 in the sixth. Gurevitch singled. Ryan Campos reached on an error. Gurevitch advanced to third. Campos stole second. Gurevitch came home on a sac fly by Gazdar.
Arkansas rallied for three runs in the ninth to bring the final score to 5-3.
The Cardinals scored five runs on 10 hits. Gurevitch was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Ortiz was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Gazdar was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Gazdar stole his 13th base. Campos swiped his 17th base.
Tre Richardson made a fielding error.
Springfield is 47-20 in the second half and is in first place in the Texas League North.
