Ironically I won’t see any of these games in Denver, but will catch two in San Francisco.
And I had buddies that had tickets to two of these games for me. We were going to meet up at the Silver Bullet bar inside the stadium for $3 beers. 🍻. But alas the Lovely Lady Bike put together a San Francisco vacay. 😁
Whatever happened to Pallante? Seems like he has not pitched in a month.
Thanks Bling. Thought it was probably something like that, but have been so busy lately I have not kept up with our club as much as usual.
Tonight the CiFs will be dining on pork tenderloin, sweet potatoes slathered in butter and a lettuce, tomato and onion salad. Looks like fruit salad again for dessert.
Well, we did nicely with one of the best. Lets see if we can do the same with the bottom dwellers.
Din-din for us will be at a San Francisco restaurant. We are going to see about hitting Chinatown this afternoon so maybe a place there.
Meanwhile be careful with this Rockies club. They get after it and are a lot like our team, but not quite as talented. We should take two of these, but another factor could be that the Rox played at home Wednesday afternoon and were off yesterday. We played a late game and then had to fly to Denver. We might be a little weary.

When I was working in Denver back in the early 70s I used to frequent a restaurant along the runway at Stapleton Airport that was built like an old World War I aerodrome. Tables were set among winding sandbag bunkers and there was lot of old aviation paraphernalia. I’m sure the place is no longer there but I was wondering if you might have known it, and if so, can you remember the name? Tnx.
CiF, I will butt in to say you might be talking about 94th Aero Squadron which was right along the runway. I was a kid but remember piped in control tower chatter. Rather cheesy knock offs appeared here and there over the ensuing years but the original was there at Stapleton.

The ’26 edition Cardinals have performed better in virtually every area of the game while playing on the road. Could it be possible that the BFIB aren’t affording the team any fan support when they’re playing at home? Maybe there’s an advanced metric system that could provide the definitive answer…
Mid America airport was supposed to take over for Lambert. The government spent over a billion dollars building it. That’s probably 2 or 3 billion in today’s dollars. It’s located about 40 miles from Lambert in southwest Illinois. It’s still there but few travelers from St.Louis want to drive an hour or more back and forth to an airport in Illinois. Later on billions more were spent erasing a large part of Bridgeton in order to build new runways for Lambert extending west. Pilots generally don’t like to use those runways because they have to taxi too far. There was another plan to build a runway on the south side of I70 but Congressman Bill Clay would have none of it. It would have erased St. Ann which Bill Clay said was an emerging middle class Black community. I tend to agree with Bill Clay.

Nathan Church (L) CFGlad to see Torres getting some regular playing time. He may, or may not, be back next year with all the talent pushing him. But he made the big money for at least one year.
As to Mid-America airport, I remember the thinking being since Scott Air Force Base was already there, it would somehow be cheaper to build. I think the problem the airlines have with it is if you fly in there, there are no connecting flights to anywhere.
I would expect Torres to be back. He has done a good job for a bench guy. He hits a little and get on base while being versatile. He has performed a little better than I expected even though I was an early person to put him in my tip 50 prospect list. The minors stat like obviously wasn’t going to translate to the bigs with his low power profile, but he has been respectable with the bat.
I don’t think there will be position players ready to come up at the start of the season. Torres and Fermin have both shown enough to be worthy of a UT slot. Not sure if the roster will accommodate both, depending.
This weekend features a 4 game Braves/Phillies series at The Bank and will have a substantial impact on which of those two teams will claim the top spot in the NLE. The Phillies are situated at 4 games off the pace in that division, so they won’t be satisfied with anything short of placing 3 of those 4 games in the W column. In any case, that sort of late season division matchup should offer up plenty of good baseball action so I’ll have to scan my cable TV channels to see if I’ll be able to watch a couple of those games.
You have Fermin, Torres, Saggese, and Prieto all competing for essentially 2 positions. Prieto is the odd one out because he can’t play the OF and is the worst at defense. The other 2 bench spots will be a catcher and someone who can more reliably play the OF although I suppose they could get cute and keep 3 of the above and not have a reliable outfielder on their bench like they have for awhile this season.
Doug Eddings had some kind of beef with Ollie and is taking it out on the Cardinals. First he announces a challenge call in a way to piss Ollie off. Then he charges Bruihl with an automatic ball when Eddings wasn’t even over to call a pitch because he was arguing with Ollie. Then he tosses Ollie. Then he literally gives Colorado a run on an obvious out call at the plate where he calls the runner safe presumably just to continue to spite the Cardinals. You usually don’t see stuff like this anymore, but it has come out tonight. It will be interesting to see what happens throughout the rest of this series.
And the Redbirds rally for a 7-6 win.

Eddings isn’t a very good umpire.
It’s sure looking like Bernal is our catcher going forward. I’m looking forward to what Raniel Rodriguez’ defense at third base looks like.
This weekend features a 4 game Braves/Phillies series at The Bank
This caught my eye because I’ll be going to the Braves-Phils game in Atlanta next Friday night with some relatives. I’m surrounded by Braves fans in my family. I’m the only outlier, haha. It’ll be the first MLB game I’ve attended live since the Cards beat the Braves in game 4 of the 2019 NLDS in St Louis. That was the game Yadi walked it off with a sac fly, then threw his bat farther and higher than he hit the ball, haha.
