The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-2 on Wednesday. TCN’s Players of the Day are the Springfield offense, which scored 12 runs. Leaders were Ryan Campos, 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored, and Tai Peete, 3-for-6 with three RBI. Other standouts: Thomas Saggese, Rainiel Rodriguez, Liam Doyle, Sammy Hernández and J.P. Cabrera.

The Triple-A Redbirds fell to the Jumbo Shrimp by a 5-4 score at AutoZone Park on Wednesday.
Starter Jurrangelo Cijntje pitched four innings, gave up one run on four hits, walked three and fanned four. Handling most of the traffic on the bases, the switch-pitcher stranded six runners.
Ryan Murphy relieved Cijntje and surrendered two runs in 1 1/3 innings. Brycen Mautz yielded two runs, one earned, in 2/3 of an inning and took the loss. Ryan Fernandez hurled a scoreless seventh. Hancel Rincon tossed the final two scoreless innings.
Jacksonville took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Memphis tied the game in the third. Brody Moore reached on an error. Noah Mendlinger walked. Victor Scott grounded into a force out. Mendlinger was out at second. On a double steal with Scott, Moore came home.
The Redbirds added three runs in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. Leo Bernal singled. Nolan Gorman was hit by a pitch. Thomas Saggese hit a three-run home run.

The Jumbo Shrimp put up a four-run sixth inning to regain the lead at 5-4. Memphis was unable to rally despite loading the bases in the ninth.
The offense scored four runs on four hits. Saggese had three RBI.
Scott stole his 17th base. Moore swiped two bags. Saggese was caught stealing.
Cijntje made two errors on pickoff attempts. Ramón Urías made a throwing error.
Memphis is 20-26 in the second half and is nine games back of Indianapolis in the International League.

The Double-A Cardinals walloped the Travelers in a 12-2 road rout on Wednesday.
Starter Liam Doyle pitched five innings, gave up one run on one hit, walked two and fanned nine to earn his fourth win.

Jack Findlay relieved Doyle and threw a scoreless sixth. Nolan Sparks hurled a scoreless seventh. Michael Watson surrendered one run in the eighth. Darlin Saladin tossed a scoreless ninth.
Springfield went up 4-0 in the second inning. Jack Gurevitch singled. Ryan Campos walked. Tre Richardson was hit by a pitch. Gurevitch scored on a sac fly by Zach Levenson. Tai Peete plated Campos and Richardson on a single. Peete stole second base. Rainiel Rodriguez drove in Peete on a single.

Arkansas scored their first run in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-1.
Springfield answered with a run in the sixth to increase the lead to 6-1. Dakota Harris walked and scored on a double by Peete.
In the eighth, the Travelers added their second and final run to shrink the lead to 6-2.
The Cardinals surged in the ninth with six runs to run up the final score to 12-2. Rodriguez was hit by a pitch. Josiah Ragsdale singled. Gurevitch walked. Campos drove in Rodriguez and Ragsdale on a single. Richardson singled. Levenson singled to score Gurevitch. Harris plated Campos and Richardson on a single. Peete singled. Rodriguez scored Levenson on a single.
The Cardinals scored 12 runs on 16 hits. Campos was 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. Peete was 3-for-6 with three RBI. Rodriguez was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Levenson was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Harris drove in two. Gurevitch was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Richardson scored two runs.
Springfield is 29-18 in the second half and is in first place in the Texas League North.
Thursday’s game: at Arkansas, Tanner Franklin RHP (0-0, 5.00) vs. Nico Tellache LHP (6-6, 4.79) 6:35 CT.
At Lansing, the High-A Chiefs were edged by the Lugnuts by a 4-3 score on Wednesday.
Starter Cade Crossland pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up one run on four hits, walked two and fanned seven.
Gerardo Salas relieved Crossland and surrendered two runs in 1 2/3 innings. Zeke Wood threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Dylan Driessen allowed one run in the eighth and took the loss.
Lansing took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Peoria scored two runs in the third to take the lead. Anyelo Encarnacion walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole third. Alex Birge walked. Encarnación scored on a balk. Yairo Padilla walked. Sammy Hernandez drove in Birge on a single.
The Lugnuts regained the lead 3-2 with a two-run sixth inning.
In the top of the eighth, the Chiefs tied the game on a solo home run by Hernandez.

Lansing answered with a run in the home half of the inning and held on to win the game 4-3.
The Chiefs scored three runs on four hits. Hernandez was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Encarnación stole his 17th base.
The Chiefs are 23-26 in the second half and are in fifth place in the Midwest League West.

After a weather-delayed start Wednesday evening, the Class-A Cardinals beat the Mighty Mussels by an 8-4 score at Roger Dean Stadium.
In his first start as a professional, 11th round pick Jacob Haley pitched three innings, gave up one run on one hit, a solo home run, walked two and struck out one.
In his Beach Birds debut, 18-year-old lefty Hendrick Caña relieved Haley and surrendered one run in 2 2/3 innings to earn the win. Yadiel Batista yielded one run in 1 1/3 innings. Jesús García relinquished one run in 1 2/3 innings. Dallis Moran secured the final out.
Fort Myers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Palm Beach put up four runs in the second. Miguel Hernández walked. Matthew Miura singled and advanced to second on an error. Gabe Camacho was hit by a pitch. J.P. Cabrera doubled to clear the bases. Heriberto Caraballo singled. Cabrera scored on a single by Alexander Frias.
The Cardinals added three runs in the third to extend the lead to 7-1. Miura singled and advanced to second on an error. Camacho singled to score Miura. Camacho advanced on two wild pitches. Trevor Haskins walked and stole second. Camacho came home on a ground out by Cabrera. Haskins scored on a wild pitch.
The Mighty Mussels added a run in the sixth to cut the lead to 7-2.
The Beach Birds extended the lead to 8-2 with a run in the seventh. Camacho hit a ground-rule double and came home on a double by Haskins.
Fort Myers put up two final runs in the eighth for the final score of 8-4.
The Cardinals scored eight runs on nine hits. Camacho was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Muira was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Cabrera had three RBI.
Haskins stole his 19th base.
Frias had an outfield assist at home plate. Haley picked off a runner at first base.
The Cardinals are 25-25 in the second half and are in second place in the Florida State League East, eight games back of Daytona.
