Cardinals Minor League Notebook – August 19, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-3 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield C Rainiel Rodriguez, went 4-for-5 including a double with two RBI. Other standouts include Victor Scott, Yhoiker Fajardo, Jack Martinez, Caden Ferraro, Branneli Franco, Sebastian Rojas and Diego Conseción.

Memphis 5, Jacksonville 6 (10 innings)

The Triple-A Redbirds lost at home to the Jumbo Shrimp in extra innings by the score of 6-5.

Starter Pete Hansen pitched three innings, gave up five runs on five hits, walked two and struck out one.

Austin Love relieved Hansen and threw two scoreless innings of relief. Skylar Hales hurled a scoreless sixth. Cade Winquest pitched two scoreless innings. Jared Shuster allowed one unearned run in 1 1/3 innings and took the loss. Matt Svanson secured the final two outs.

Jacksonville went up 2-0 in the first inning. They added one run in the second and two in the third to lead 5-0.

Memphis answered with one run in the home third. Chase Davis singled. Ramon Mendoza was hit by a pitch. Both runners moved up on a sac bunt by Victor Scott. Davis came home on a ground out by Ramón Urías.

The Redbirds added one run in the seventh to shrink the lead to 5-2. Davis singled. Mendoza walked. Scott singled to score Davis.

Memphis put up three runs in the eighth to tie the game. César Prieto singled and advanced to third on an error. Thomas Saggese drove in Prieto on a sac fly. Colton Ledbetter hit a solo home run. Davis reached on a third strike passed ball. Scott tripled to plate Davis.

The game went into extra innings. The Jumbo Shrimp scored the tiebreaker runner in the 10th.  The Redbirds failed to answer.

Memphis scored five runs on nine hits. Scott was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Prieto was 2-for-5. Davis was 2-for-5 with three runs scored.

Scott stole two bases. Saggese made a fielding error.

Memphis is 20-25 in the second half and is eight games back of the Indianapolis Pirates in the International League.

Wednesday’s game: vs. Jacksonville, Jurrangelo Cijntje SHP (0-3, 6.29) vs. Patrick Monteverde LHP (3-2, 5.79) 6:45 CT.

Springfield 4 at Arkansas 3

The Double-A Cardinals topped the Travelers in a 4-3 road win on Tuesday.

Starter Yhoiker Fajardo pitched six innings, gave up one run on seven hits, walked two and fanned five to earn his second win.

Jose Davila relieved Fajardo and threw a scoreless seventh. Joseph King surrendered two runs in the eighth. Sandro Santana tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his second save.

The Cardinals went up 2-0 in the fourth inning. Ryan Campos and Tre Richardson singled. Rainiel Rodriguez hit a ground-rule double to plate Campos and Richardson.

Arkansas scored one run in the fifth to cut the lead to 2-1.

Springfield put up two more runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 4-1. Richardson, Tai Peete and Rodriguez singled. Richardson came home on a sac fly by Jesús Báez. Peete scored on a double play by Josiah Ragsdale.

The Travelers added two runs in the eighth for the final score of 4-3.

The Cardinals scored four runs on 13 hits. Rodriguez was 4-for-5 with two RBI. Richardson was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Jack Gurevitch was 3-for-5.

Rodriguez was caught stealing.

Springfield is 28-18 in the second half and is tied for first place in the Texas League North

Wednesday’s game: at Arkansas, LHP Liam Doyle (3-7, 4.28) vs. Ryan Hawks RHP (4-6, 6.27) 6:35 CT.

Peoria 5 at Lansing 6

The High-A Chiefs took a road loss from the Lugnuts by a 6-5 score on Tuesday.

Starter Jack Martinez pitched five innings, gave up one run on two hits, walked three and struck out one.

Nelfy Ynfante relieved Martinez and surrendered four runs in 1 2/3 innings. Ynfante took the loss. Patrick Galle yielded one run in one inning. Christian Worley secured the final out.

Lansing took a 1-0 lead in the third inning.

In the top of the sixth, Peoria scored two runs to go ahead. Brayden Smith doubled. Jalin Flores singled to score Smith. Yordalin Peña singled. Tristan Bissetta doubled to plate Flores.

The Lugnuts tied the game in the home sixth, then added three runs in the seventh to take a 5-2 lead.

The Chiefs put up two runs in the top of the eighth to shrink the gap to 5-4. Flores was hit by a pitch. Caden Ferraro hit a two-run home run.

Lansing made it 6-4 in the bottom of the eighth. Peoria rallied for one run in the ninth to bring the final score to 6-5.

The Chiefs scored five runs on seven hits. Ferraro was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Flores scored two runs.

Bissetta stole his first base. Andrew Williamson swiped his first bag.

In his Chiefs debut, Yairo Padilla made a fielding error.

The Chiefs are 23-25 in the second half and are in fifth place in the Midwest League West.

Wednesday’s game: at Lansing, Cade Crossland LHP (1-0, 1.93) vs. Jackson Nove LHP (0-0, 9.00) 12:05 CT.

Palm Beach 8, Fort Myers 7

The Cardinals came back from a 5-0 deficit to defeat the Mighty Mussels by an 8-7 score at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday.

Starter Andrew Dutkanych pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up three runs on two hits, walked one and struck out three.

Justin Militello relieved Dutkanych and surrendered two runs in 2/3 of an inning. Branneli Franco threw four scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Brian Garmon relinquished two runs in the ninth but received the win.

Fort Myers took 1-0 lead in the second inning. They added four runs in the fourth to increase the lead to 5-0.

Palm Beach surged in the fifth to score five runs to tie the game. Trevor Condon hit a ground rule double and scored on a single by Ryan Mitchell. Alexander Frias and Dee Kennedy walked. Sebastian Dos Santos walked and Mitchell scored. Owen Henne walked to score Frias. Jayden Lobliner reached on an error as Kennedy and Dos Santos came home.

The Mighty Mussels regained the lead at 7-5 in the top of the ninth. The Cardinals rallied for three runs in the home half to win in a walk off. Dos Santos was hit by a pitch. Henne singled. Lobliner plated Dos Santos on a single. Henne came home on a single by Matthew Miura.

The Cardinals scored eight runs on 10 hits. Mitchell was 2-for-3 with an RBI. In his professional debut, first rounder Trevor Condon was 2-for-5.  Gabe Camacho was 2-for-5. Miura had two RBI. Dos Santos scored two runs.

Mitchell stole two bases. Kennedy, Condon, and Lobliner each swiped their first bag. Dos Santos stole his 17th base.

The Cardinals are 24-25 in the second half and are in second place in the Florida State League East, eight games back of Daytona.

Wednesday’s game: vs. Fort Myers, TBD (PB) vs. Matt Barr RHP (0-0, 6.43) 5:30 CT.

DSL Cardinals 7 at DSL Twins 8 (Game 1, seven innings)

The Cardinals were edged by the Twins in a 6-7 loss on Tuesday in the first game of a twin bill.

Starter Jose Vega pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up eight runs, five earned, on six hits, walked four and fanned four. Vega took the loss.

Beiker Rodriguez relieved Vega and finished the sixth.

The Twins went up 2-0 in the first inning.

The Cardinals answered with three runs in the top of the second to take the lead 3-2. Diego Conseción, Lucas Takahashi and Yeferson Portolatin walked. Sebastian Rojas singled to plate Conseción and Takahashi. Christopher Vargas drove in Portolatin on a single.

The Twins came back to the tie the game in the third.

In the top of the fourth, the Cardinals added two runs to lead 5-3. Takahashi walked and stole second base. Portolatin was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Takahashi came home on a sac fly by Rojas. Vargas singled and Portolatin scored.

The Twins tied the game again with two runs in the home half fourth. In the fifth, the Cardinals broke the tie with two runs to lead 7-5. Conseción walked and was eliminated on a force out by Takahashi. Jesús Pérez hit a two-run home run.

The Twins rallied for three runs in the sixth to win the game 8-7.

The Cardinals scored seven runs on seven hits. Vargas was 2-for-2 with two RBI. Misael Sánchez was 2-for-4. Rojas had three RBI. Pérez drove in two. Takahashi scored three runs. Portolatin scored two runs.

Takahashi stole his second base. Roberth Castillo made three errors, two fielding and one throwing. Portolatin had a fielding miscue. Sánchez and Jhonny Chaparro each had a throwing error. Vega picked a runner off third base.

DSL Cardinals 14 at DSL Twins 10 (Game 2, seven innings)

The Cardinals finished their 2026 schedule on a high note as they beat the Twins 14-10 in the second game of Tuesday’s twin bill.

Starter Rafeli Moronta pitched 1 1/3 innings, gave up seven runs on five hits, walked three and fanned four.

Jhon Cabrera relieved Moronta an surrendered one run in one inning. Javier Martínez yielded two runs in 3 2/3 innings but was given the win. Domingo Mejía tossed a scoreless seventh.

The Twins went ahead 7-0 in the first inning.

The Cardinals answered with seven runs in the second inning to tie. Misael Sánchez reached on a wild pitch third strike. He advanced to second on another wild pitch. Roberth Castillo and Lucas Takahashi walked. Sánchez scored on a wild pitch. Castillo and Takahashi advanced a base. Michael Cordero walked. Castillo came home on a sac fly by Héctor Cabrera. Carlos Carrión singled. Jhon Franganten doubled to plate Takahashi and Cordero. Diego Conseción walked. Sánchez walked and Carrión scored. Franganten came home on a walk by Castillo. Takahashi walked, sending Conseción home.

The Twins pulled ahead with a run in the second.

The Cardinals pulled even in the third on a solo home run by Carrión. They added two runs in the fourth to take the lead to 10-8. Sánchez singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Castillo walked. Takahashi grounded into a force out. Castillo was out at second. Sánchez stole home. Takahashi stole second and then advanced to third on a balk. Cabrera drove in Takahashi on a single.

The Twins retied the score with a two-run fifth.

The Cardinals put up four runs in the sixth to win the game 14-10. Takahashi walked. Cabrera singled. Eduardo Mirabal doubled to score Takahashi. Franganten walked. Conseción cleared the bases on a double.

The Cardinals scored 14 runs on eight hits. Cabrera was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Carrión was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Conseción had three RBI. Franganten had two RBI. Takahashi scored three runs. Sánchez scored two runs.

Sánchez stole his sixth base. Takahashi swiped his third bag. Conseción stole his sixth base.

Franganten had an outfield assist at third base. Takahashi had an outfield assist at second base.

The Cardinals finished 28-27 on the season, in fourth place in the DSL Southeast.
