The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-3 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield outfielder Won-Bin Cho, collected two RBI and stole a base in his first four-hit game at Double-A. Other standouts: Jared Shuster, Jesús Báez, Dakota Harris, Josiah Ragsdale and Yairo Padilla.

Memphis Redbirds 1, Nashville Sounds 2
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds’ ninth-inning rally fell short against the Nashville Sounds at AutoZone Park on Thursday.
Jurrangelo Cijntje made his fourth start for Memphis. The switch-pitcher faced 19 batters right-handed and one hitter left-handed. Cijntje pitched five innings and allowed two runs on three hits, three walks, and seven strikeouts, taking the loss.
Jared Shuster fired three shutout frames with four strikeouts in relief of Cijntje. Ryan Fernandez tossed a scoreless ninth.
Nashville scored twice in the fifth inning. Memphis tallied just one-extra base hit through the first eight innings and looked to erase the two-run deficit heading into the bottom of the ninth.
Thomas Saggese hit a lead-off single, moved to second on a wild pitch and to third on a flyout. Chase Davis brought the infielder home via a sacrifice fly before Brody Moore grounded out to end the game.
The Redbirds scored one run on seven hits. Saggese was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Noah Mendlinger doubled for the team’s lone extra-base-hit. Victor Scott II singled twice.
On the bases, Scott II stole his 12th bag of the year with Memphis and was caught stealing second base.
The Redbirds did not commit an error on defense.
Memphis is 15-21 in the second half and 62-49 overall.

Springfield Cardinals 9 at San Antonio Missions 2
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals bested the Missions in San Antonio on Thursday night.
Liam Doyle made his 18th start for Springfield. The left-hander pitched 4 ⅓ innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits, two walks, and eight strikeouts.

Andrew Schultz fanned three across 1 ⅔ scoreless, no-hit innings in relief of Doyle and picked up his fourth win. José Davila followed with a scoreless seventh. Nolan Sparks and Domenic Picone each tossed a scoreless frame to finish the game.
Springfield opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning. Tai Peete reached on a fielding error. Josiah Ragsdale walked. Peete was caught stealing third, with Ragsdale to second base. Jesús Báez ripped a single to put runners at the corners. Báez was caught stealing second base, though he stayed in a rundown long enough for Ragsdale to score and put the Cardinals in front 1-0.
The Cardinals stormed further ahead with a five-run second inning.
Deniel Ortiz singled and stole second base. WIth one out, Ortiz swiped third and scored on a Won-Bin Cho single. Cho stole second and scored on a two-out home run from Dakota Harris, his ninth of the year, to extend the lead to 4-0.

Peete walked and took second on a balk. Ragsdale drew his second walk in as many innings. Báez scorched a double to bring Peete and Ragsdale home for a 6-0 Springfield lead.

The Missions scored twice in the home fourth to move the score to 6-2.
Springfield grabbed an insurance run in the eighth as Peete walked and Ragsdale doubled him home.
The Cardinals added two runs in the ninth. Jack Gurevitch began the frame with a double and moved to third on a groundout. Ryan Campos walked. Gurevitch crossed home plate on a wild pitch. Cho singled for his fourth hit of the game to score Campos and stretch the lead to 9-2.

The lineup collected five hits with runners in scoring position in the win.
The Cardinals scored nine runs on 13 hits. Cho was 4-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI.
Harris hit a home run for two RBI. Báez was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI. Ragsdale walked twice, scored twice, doubled, and drove in a run. Peete drew two walks, scored twice, and singled. Gurevitch doubled and scored a run.
On the bases, Ortiz swiped two bags for five steals on the year. Cho stole his fourth base in Double-A. Peete was caught stealing third base. Báez was caught stealing second base.
On defense, catcher Campos was charged with a passed ball. The Cardinals turned three double plays in an errorless game.
Springfield is 24-12 in the second half and 55-49 overall.

Peoria Chiefs 0, Quad Cities River Bandits 7
The High-A Peoria Chiefs were blanked on just two hits by the Quad Cities River Bandits at Dozer Park on Thursday.
Jack Martinez made his third start in his fourth game with Peoria. The right-hander threw four innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on four hits, two walks, and five strikeouts. Martinez took the loss.
Trey Pooser gave up two runs over 1 ⅓ innings in relief of Martinez. Zeke Wood followed with 1 ⅓ shutout frames. Nelfy Ynfante pitched two scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts.
The River Bandits scored two runs in the second and one in the fourth to move ahead 3-0.
The Chiefs looked to answer in the home half of the fourth. With one out, Caden Ferraro singled for his first professional hit in the first game of his career.

The River Bandits added four runs in the fifth to grab a 7-0 lead.
In the sixth, Sammy Hernandez singled but was stranded. The Chiefs did not record a hit for the remainder of the contest.
The Chiefs scored no runs on two hits, singles by Ferraro and Hernandez. Ferraro tallied the lone Peoria walk but was caught stealing. The lineup struck out 12 times without putting a runner in scoring position.
On defense, pitcher Martinez made a throwing error. Right fielder José Suárez committed a fielding error. Pitcher Pooser picked a runner off first base.
Peoria is 19-19 in the second half and 51-53 overall.

Palm Beach Cardinals 3, Jupiter Hammerheads 12
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals dropped a lopsided contest to the Jupiter Hammerheads at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Thursday.
Andrew Dutkanych IV started his sixth game in his 10th appearance of the year for Palm Beach. The right-hander pitched three innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on four hits, two walks, and five strikeouts, taking the loss.
Alan Reyes threw three scoreless innings with three strikeouts in his season debut for Palm Beach. Peoria rehabber Joseph King followed and yielded three runs, two earned, across 1 ⅔ frames. Anthony Watts surrendered five runs in the eighth. Nathan Shinn recorded the final out of the ninth.
Jupiter plated three runs in the second inning and one in the third to take a 4-0 lead.
Palm Beach trimmed the lead in half in the bottom of the sixth. Ryan Mitchell lined a single and scored on Yairo Padilla’s third Palm Beach home run of 2026, a two-run blast, for a 4-2 score.

The Cardinals moved within a run in the seventh. Cristofer Lebrón led off with a single. Making his professional debut, Gabe Camacho lined a double for his first professional hit. Trevor Haskins walked to load the bases. Mitchell grounded into a forceout, with Lebrón coming home to bring Palm Beach closer at 4-3.
The Hammerheads scored three runs in the eighth and five in the ninth to pull ahead 12-3. Palm Beach was unable to answer.
The Cardinals scored three runs on seven hits. Lebrón was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Camacho doubled in his first career game. Mitchell singled, scored, and drove in a run. Padilla homered and drove in two runs. Jayden Lobliner collected a single in his first career game.
On the bases, Lebrón swiped two bags for four steals with Palm Beach. Making his professional debut, Owen Henne stole his first base.
On defense, shortstop Dee Kennedy committed two fielding errors in his first professional game. Pitcher Dutkanych IV committed a pickoff error. Catcher Lobliner made a pickoff error.
Palm Beach is 19-19 in the second half and 52-52 overall.

DSL Cardinals (off day)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals were off Thursday as they prepared for a road contest with the DSL NYY Bombers on Friday.
The Cardinals will enter the game with extra rest after their Wednesday match with DSL Arizona Black was canceled due to rain.
The DSL Cardinals are 22-22 on the season.
Friday’s game: vs. DSL NYY Bombers. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 AM CT.
