The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-3 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach starter Brian Holiday, pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings with two hits and 12 strikeouts. Other standouts: Cooper Hjerpe, Nolan Gorman, Josiah Ragsdale, Rainiel Rodriguez and Gerardo Salas.

The Triple-A Redbirds edged the Sounds in a 5-4 walkoff win at AutoZone Park on Wednesday.
In his Memphis debut, starter Cooper Hjerpe pitched four scoreless innings, allowed two hits, walked four and fanned four.
Victor Santos relieved Hjerpe and surrendered one run in two innings. Brycen Mautz threw a scoreless seventh. Matt Svanson relinquished three runs in the eighth. Hancel Rincon tossed a scoreless ninth and earned the win.
The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when Nashville went up 1-0.
Memphis answered with three runs in the home half of the inning. Victor Scott and Noah Mendlinger singled. Scott advanced to third and scored on an error. Nolan Gorman followed with a two-run home run.

The Redbirds added a run in the eighth to lead 4-1. Joshua Báez doubled and later scored on an error.
In the top of the ninth, the Sounds tied the game with three runs.
Memphis walked it off in the bottom of the ninth to win 5-4. Brody Moore doubled and later scored on a single by Mendlinger. It was the Redbirds’ seventh walkoff win in 2026.

The offense scored five runs on 11 hits. Mendlinger was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Báez was 2-for-3. Moore was 2-for-4. Gorman had two RBI.
Scott was caught stealing. Hjerpe picked a runner off first base.
Memphis is 15-20 in the second half.

Springfield 3 at San Antonio 5
The Double-A Cardinals fell at the Missions by a 5-3 score on Wednesday.
Starter Yhoiker Fajardo pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up four runs on seven hits, walked one and fanned eight. Fajardo took the loss.

New Cardinal Sandro Santana relieved Fajardo and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings Michael Watson hurled a scoreless seventh. Randel Clemente yielded an insurance run in the eighth.
San Antonio went up 2-0 in the first inning.

Springfield tied the game in the second. In his first at-bat in the system, Josiah Ragsdale hit a solo home run. Deniel Ortiz singled and advanced on a balk. Won-Bin Cho walked. Jack Gurevitch walked. Ortiz scored on a wild pitch.
The Missions added two runs in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.

In the top of the eighth, the Cardinals added a solo home run by Rainiel Rodriguez to cut the lead to 4-3. San Antonio responded with a run in the bottom of the inning for the final score of 5-3.
The Cardinals scored three runs on six hits. Ragsdale was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Springfield is 23-12 in the second half.
Thursday’s game: at San Antonio, Liam Doyle LHP (2-7, 4.65) vs. Andrew Thurman RHP (2-6, 5.71) 7:05 CT.
The High-A Chiefs were defeated by the River Bandits by a 7-2 score on Wednesday at Dozer Park.
Starter Ty Van Dyke pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up three runs on seven hits, walked two and fanned four. Van Dyke took the loss.
Dylan Driessen relieved Van Dyke and surrendered four runs, three earned, in 1 1/3 innings. Gerardo Salas threw two perfect innings with four strikeouts. Patrick Galle tossed a scoreless ninth.
Quad Cities took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Peoria tied it in the home first. Josh Kross reached on an error. Cade McGee was hit by a pitch. Michael Dattalo singled to score Kross.
The River Bandits added single runs in the second and fourth, and four in the sixth to extend the lead to 7-1.
The Chiefs put up a small-ball run in the seventh for the final score of 7-2. Sammy Hernandez walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Hernandez went to third on defensive indifference and scored on a balk.
The Chiefs scored two runs on four hits. A double by Yordalin Peña was the only extra base hit.
Dattalo was caught stealing. He also made a throwing error. Driessen made an error on a pickoff attempt. Peña had an outfield assist at third base.
The Chiefs are 19-18 in the second half.
Thursday’s game: vs. Quad Cities, Jack Martinez RHP (1-1, 7.20) vs. Blake Wolters RHP (2-7, 9.45) 6:35 CT.
The Class-A Cardinals lost to the Hammerheads by a 2-1 score at Roger Dean Stadium on Wednesday.
Starter Brian Holiday had his best outing as a professional. The right-hander pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings, allowed two hits and fanned 12, but took a no-decision.

Yadiel Batista relieved Holiday and surrendered one unearned run in two innings and took the loss. Anthony Watts entered with two outs in the eighth inning but did not throw a pitch. Justin Militello allowed one run in the final 1 1/3 innings.
The game was scoreless through seven innings. Jupiter scored single runs in the eighth and ninth.
In the bottom of the ninth, Palm Beach cut the final score to 2-1. Ryan Mitchell walked. Miguel Hernández singled. Mitchell came home on a sac fly by Cristofer Lebrón.
The Cardinals scored one run on nine hits. Trevor Haskins was 2-for-3. Jonathan Mejía was 2-for-4.
Alexander Frias stole his first base. Mitchell was caught stealing. Lebrón was picked off and caught stealing.
Haskins and Sebastian Dos Santos each made a throwing error. Mitchell had an outfield assist at home plate.
The Cardinals are 19-18 in the second half.

Wednesday’s Dominican Summer League game was canceled due to rain.
The Cardinals are 22-22 on the season and are in fourth place in the DSL Southeast.
