Having come to about as close as a team could get to a coronation ceremony these Blue Jays have really taken a steep dive over in the AL this season. Meanwhile, in the NL, the Cubbies look like they may have a chance to make a run at the Brewers and the Phillies, at 2-8, have the worst record of any team in baseball in their last 10 games and don’t at all look like they’ll catch the Braves. Things sure do change in a hurry.

Taking a early gander at the Friday out-of-town scoreboard:

The aforementioned Flubs lost to the Yankees today at Wrigley Field. Rosario and Jones homered for the Bronx Bombers. 2-0 Yankers your final.

The Brewers are out west tonight to face the Angels at Anaheim.

Reds and Pirates about to square off at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati.

And in case anyone is wondering, yes indeed today was a CCFF. Cardinals Catfish Fiddlers Friday. Had a couple out at the Amish restaurant north of town that sits on the lake.

Not too impressed by these new blue jay uniforms. Cardinals had a nice chance there with burly lead off double but not to be. He never moved.

Willie, my wife just told me how much she liked the Blue Jays uniform! How funny.

They remind me of Arena football unis.

Several years ago I expressed how I didn’t want the Cardinals signing Cease because of inconsistency. Boy was I wrong. He’s been one of the better pitchers in baseball since.

I think I’m with you Willie. To me, it looks like a copy of the Mets.

I kind of agree with bling, they do give me arena football league images though i havent watched that in a while. On flipnote here, leahy got out of a tough inning. Gave up a run but could have been worse. He got lucky, some very hard hit balls on very hittable pitches. I suspect both starters are done.

The new pitcher didnt do well with his first pitch here. Hit the batter. Facing gurrero with bases loaded.

Once again this team can’t score any runs.

How many games this week did they only score a run or two?

It would help if they had somebody – anybody – that could hit the ball.

Well its lucky rats that we are playing a team that cant hit as well.

I agree Rats. Even just putting the ball in play besides grounding to 2B would be an improvement.

Noot cooled off quickly, Burleson has been swinging even more at everything, Walker has never been able to recognize a pitch thrown, Wetherholt has been typically pulling off pitches, and Herrera had gotten pretty cold until the past week. Plus Church’s luck ran out awhile ago and Crooks hasn’t done much of anything yet.

Winn has been pretty solid. Same with Fermin when he plays. But 1 1/2 bats in a lineup or 2 1/2 if Herrera has figured something out just isn’t cutting it.

It was actually a great looking pitch from Graceffo. That happens sometimes. The real issue was the previous walk (and the 2 prior to that).

And the fact we can’t hit the baseball. Amirite Rats?

Well leahy pitched great though tired at the end. Still great effort but bullpen just couldnt get it done. Offense sure didnt make it easybut thats no surprise.

Yeah right now this team really can’t do anything right. Can’t hit, can’t pitch and can’t field at times. Maybe 90 losses is attainable after all. That would be an 18-34 end to the season. That’s about how they are playing currently.

Not sure I’d want to trade for Paul Skenes right now.

He was ineffective again tonight. His start was in Cincinnati.

I wonder if Tommy John surgery is looming for him?
