Ahhhhh!
A west coast game. Nothing better. And the Reds are also out west. They begin a three game series in Seattle tonight. I’ll catch the first couple of innings of that one before I switch over to the Redbirds and Angels.
I think this game is an important one. Sort of a rebound type game.
Din-din today was a couple of baked potatoes, some Allen Cut Italian green beans, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, and a bowl of Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream.
Then later tonight me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch together with a couple of 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars.

Din-din here was a leftover bowl of chicken-gnocchi soup from our Saturday Olive Garden lunch with the Lovely Lady Bike’s brother and sister-in-law, along with a big chopped salad and garlic bread. I washed it down with a glass of Emergen-C. Not that I feel a cold coming on, but now and then I mix up a glass of Emergen-C and have it with a meal to help keep the immune system humming along. And I like them.
I made a couple hot dog shaped hamburgers since I only had hot dog buns for bread. Corn on the cob to go with it. Also had a Canadian beer somebody brought back from vacation. Of course, I will not stay up for the game since I have a day job. Good luck.
Pizza tonight–Pepperoni, mushroom, and spinach. Running late and didn’t want to take the time to cook….
Gonna be a late night game here on the east coast. I’m guessing I’ll watch about the first hour.
Looking at fangraphs, I’m trying to figure out how they have such a bad record. We face their best three starting pitchers. Their wrc+ is only a tiny bit behind ours. Hope they don’t get ambushed out there.
The atmospheric conditions are quite nice for this one tonight. Temps in the low 70s and literally no chance of precipitation.
It never rains in southern California..:)

When I think of names spelled Albert Pujols, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, I can’t for the life of me understand how the Angels have been so bad for so long. There almost has to be an overwhelming presence of evil baseball gypsies out there in Anaheim.
Train kept a rollin’ in Boston tonight as the Red Sox make it 14 consecutive W’s in front of 37,659 rabid fans at Fenway.
I had forgotten that Fenway’s capacity differs between day and night games as a result of a black tarp being placed over a section of seating in CF during day games to provide a backdrop contrast for the hitter. I also think it’s worth mentioning that Fenway was constructed at a cost of 650K. I wonder if they’ll ever change the name to honor a bank or phone company…
Riley flat out sucked tonight. I don’t know what the hell Walker was jumping at. That was Ozunaesque.
I guess even the worst team in baseball has to beat somebody once in a while. I’ll spare myself the agony of morning-after replay.

I was wondering the same thing about what Walker was jumping at. He wasn’t even really close. That ball was almost catchable.Time to reel off about 7-8 in a row. Losses that is. Then do nothing at the deadline cause this team needs everything it has. Plus a big bat and an ace starting pitcher. And they are only going to come via free agency.
And how about the Reds? They walk the lefty hitter to pitch to Raleigh and he hits a grand slam on the first pitch!

no, it’s not sell time. we just need to sit tight and not do anything. if you keep selling what you have you end up like the Pirates and Reds have been for a long time.
Keep what we have and then a big bat and starting pitcher via free agency. Which means somebody is going to have to spend some $$$.
The only other option is what we’ve seen from the Reds and Pirates for years now – mediocrity.
I think the difference between us and the Reds or Pirates is that the Cardinals do have a history of Top 15 and maybe Top 10 payrolls. The Reds and Pirates do not. When our team is ready to win again I think we will increase payroll accordingly. I view that as being in 2028. In the meantime we should keep stockpiling as much young talent as possible.
It was going to be a tough catch regardless. Anything at the wall is but he jump was very badly timed and shows while he has improved in RF that he’s got a long way to go.

Not happening.
Remember Contreras and Gray? Big signings, just like you want. Two All-Stars couldn’t fix the weak foundation, which still isn’t strong enough.
You are going to need more patience to get through the next couple of years.
