The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-4 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria first baseman Jack Gurevitch, doubled and hit two home runs for three RBI. Other standouts: Quinn Mathews, Chen-Wei Lin, Won-Bin Cho, Jesús Báez, Tre Richardson III and Liam Best.

Memphis Redbirds 1 at Gwinnett Stripers 2
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were walked-off in a pitcher’s duel on Thursday.
Quinn Mathews started his 17th game for Memphis. The left-hander pitched a season-high seven shutout innings on two hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts.
Scott Blewett struck out the side in the eighth inning. Ryan Fernandez surrendered two runs and recorded just one out, taking a blown save and the loss.
Memphis had one baserunner through the first six innings and recorded their first hit in the top of the seventh. César Prieto led off with a double but was stranded at third base.
The Redbirds broke the scoreless tie in the eighth. Bligh Madris hit the second lead-off double in as many innings. Noah Mendlinger was hit by a pitch and Jeremy Rivas legged out an infield single to load the bases with one out. Victor Scott II beat out a second consecutive infield single to score Madris and put the Redbirds in front 1-0.

Gwinnett plated two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to walk off the win.
The Redbirds scored one run on five hits. Scott II singled and notched the team’s lone RBI. Madris walked, doubled, and scored. Prieto and Leo Bernal doubled.
The Redbirds did not steal a base.
On defense, pitcher Mathews made a throwing error. Catcher Bernal committed a pickoff error. Mendlinger threw a runner out at second base from left field. The Redbirds turned three double plays.
Memphis is 7-8 in the second half and 54-36 overall.

Springfield Cardinals 12 at Tulsa Drillers 6
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals doubled up the Drillers in Tulsa on Thursday night, breaking their three-game losing skid.
Chen-Wei Lin made his 13th start in his 16th appearance for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched 5 ⅓ innings and allowed three runs on six hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. Lin earned his third win.

D.J. Carpenter recorded the final two outs of the sixth inning. Domenic Picone followed with a scoreless seventh. Lefty Michael Watson yielded two runs in the eighth. Darlin Saladin yielded an unearned run and finished the game.
Springfield pounced early with a six-run top of the second inning.
Miguel Ugueto doubled. Won-Bin Cho walked. Tre Richardson III belted his fourth Double-A home run, a three-run shot, to put the Cardinals ahead.
Jon Jon Gazdar doubled. Brody Moore legged out an infield single. Dakota Harris connected for a single to score Gazdar. Jesús Báez grounded into a double play. Rainiel Rodriguez roped a ground-rule double to bring Harris home. Ryan Campos hit a second consecutive double to bring Rodriguez home for the sixth run of the frame.

Tulsa plated a run in the home second.
The Cardinals pulled ahead further with three runs in the third. Won-Bin Cho crushed his eighth Springfield home run, a solo shot.

With two outs, Moore walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. Harris grounded a single to bring Moore home. Báez hit a sharp double to plate Harris and extend Springfield’s lead to 9-1.
Springfield added a run in the fourth. Ugueto walked and Richardson III reached on an infield single. Gazdar walked to load the bases with one out. Moore grounded into a forceout, with Ugueto coming home for the 10th Springfield run.
The Cardinals scored a run in the fifth, their fourth consecutive scoring frame. Báez cranked his sixth Double-A long ball, a solo shot, to widen the Springfield lead into double digits at 11-1.

Tulsa scored twice in the home sixth.
Springfield took one run back in the eighth. Cho hit his second home run of the game, his ninth with Springfield, for a 12-3 margin.

The Drillers rallied for three runs across the final two innings but were unable to overcome the large Springfield lead.
The Cardinals scored 12 runs on 15 hits. Cho went 2-for-3, including a walk, three runs scored, and two home runs. Richardson III was 2-for-5, including a home run and three RBI. Báez doubled, homered, and drove in two. Harris was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBI. Rodriguez walked, doubled, drove in a run and scored. Campos doubled and notched an RBI.
The lineup hit .500 (6-for-12) with runners in scoring position.
The Cardinals did not steal a base.
On defense, center fielder Ugueto made fielding and throwing errors. Pitcher Carpenter picked a runner off first base.
Springfield is 10-5 in the second half and 41-42 overall.

Peoria Chiefs 8 at Quad Cities River Bandits 18
The High-A Peoria Chiefs dropped a lopsided decision to the Quad Cities River Bandits in Davenport on Thursday. It was the third consecutive game in which Chiefs pitching allowed double-digit runs. Peoria’s losing streak is four and they have dropped eight of their last 10.
Ty Van Dyke started for Peoria and had a rough night. The right-hander tossed three innings and allowed eight runs on eight hits, one walk and five strikeouts.
Christian Worley gave up two unearned runs across 2 ⅓ innings. Patrick Galle yielded a run over 1 ⅓ frames. Dominic Freeberger surrendered three runs and recorded just one out. Jawilme Ramírez allowed three runs and secured two outs. Catcher Sammy Hernandez took the mound and recorded the final out of the eighth inning.
Peoria opened the scoring in the top of the first. Jack Gurevitch hit a solo home run, his eighth with Peoria.

Quad Cities plated two runs in the home first to move ahead 2-1.
Peoria tied the game at 2-2 in the third. Ian Petrutz singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. With two away, Michael Dattalo grounded a single into center field.

The River Bandits tied the contest in the home third and scored five runs in the fourth to jump in front 8-2.
The Chiefs inched closer with a pair of runs in the fifth. Jalin Flores walked and scored on a double from Gurevitch. Dattalo lined a single to bring Gurevitch home and trim the gap down to 8-4.
Quad Cities took both runs back in the sixth for a 10-4 lead.
The Chiefs scored once in the seventh as Gurevitch led off with his second home run of the game.

The River Bandits tallied their second five-run burst in the seventh to make it 15-5.
The Chiefs added three runs in the eighth. Anyelo Encarnación singles. Cameron Nickens reached on a fielding error, with Encarnación to third base and Nickens to second. Martin lined a single to score Encarnación. Flores ripped a double to plate Nickens and Martin and bring the score to 15-8.
Quad Cities scored three runs in the home eighth for the 18-8 final score.
The Chiefs scored eight runs on 11 hits. Gurevitch was 3-for-3, including a double, two home runs, three runs scored, and three RBI. Dattalo walked, singled twice, and drove in two. Flores walked, doubled, scored, and notched two RBI. Martin walked, singled, scored, and drove in a run. Encarnación singled twice and scored.
On the bases, Encarnación swiped his ninth bag.
On defense, first baseman Gurevitch committed a fielding error.
Peoria is 6-11 in the second half and 38-45 overall.

Palm Beach Cardinals 1 at Daytona Tortugas 9
Lacking offense, the Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals fell to the Dayton Tortugas in Thursday’s road contest by a 9-1 score.
Jack Martinez started his 16th game for the Cardinals. The right-hander recorded just two outs and allowed three runs on two hits, three walks, and one strikeout. Martinez took the loss.
Justin Militello gave up four runs, three earned, across two innings in relief. Liam Best followed with a career-best 3 ⅓ scoreless, no-hit innings with four strikeouts. Dylan Driessen yielded two runs, one earned, with three strikeouts over two innings.
Palm Beach looked to strike early with an error and two walks loading the bases in the top of the first, but they were stranded.
Daytona plated three runs in the home first, one in the second, three in the third, and single runs in the seventh and eighth to take a 9-0 lead.
The Cardinals averted the shutout in their final at-bats. Johnfrank Salazar singled and Davis walked. Mitchell ripped a double to score Salazar and put Palm Beach in the run column at 9-1. The Cardinals were unable to rally further.
Palm Beach scored one run on five hits. Mitchell walked, doubled, and drove in a run. Smith and Davis each singled and walked twice. Weingartner drew two walks. The lineup stranded 12 runners on base.
On the bases, Weingartner swiped his 27th bag.
On defense, pitcher Militello and second baseman Weingartner each made a throwing error. Catcher Heath was tagged with a passed ball. Davis threw a runner out at third base from right field.
Palm Beach is 10-8 in the second half and 43-41 overall.

FCL Cardinals 0, FCL Astros 13 (seven innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals were shut out on one hit by the FCL Astros on Thursday.
Hendrick Caña started his first game in the US. The left-hander threw four innings and allowed two unearned runs on three hits, no walks, and four strikeouts, taking the tough-luck loss.
Jarol Baéz yielded four runs across 1 ⅓ innings in relief. Alejandro Lóaiza surrendered six runs and recorded just one out. Yordy Herrera gave up a run and secured an out. First baseman Chris Lopez took the mound and threw a shutout seventh frame in mop-up duties.
The Astros opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning.
In the fourth, Cristofer Lebrón lined a single and swiped second base but was eliminated in a double play. Royelny Strop drew a walk but was caught stealing second base to end the inning.
The Astros added a run in the fifth and piled on 10 runs in the sixth to widen their lead to 13-0.
The Cardinals had three total baserunners in the contest. The FCL Cardinals scored no runs on just one hit, Lebrón’s single. Strop drew the only Cardinals walk.
On the bases, Lebrón stole his 15th bag of 2026. Strop was caught stealing second base.
On defense, third baseman Bracewell Taveras and pitcher Lopez each made a throwing error. Catcher Paulo Asprilla was charged with a passed ball.
The FCL Cardinals are 15-27 on the season. They will complete the suspended contest from July 6 with the FCL Nationals on Friday. The game will resume with two outs in the bottom of the second inning with a 5-3 Cardinals lead.
Friday’s game: vs. FCL Nationals. The game is scheduled to resume at 10:00 AM CT. Pitchers are TBA.
DSL Cardinals vs. DSL Colorado (suspended)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals’ home contest with DSL Colorado was suspended on Thursday due to lightning in the area. The game is slated to be completed on July 25.
The Cardinals hold a 4-3 lead with one out in the top of the fifth inning.
The team will play a home contest with the DSL Marlins on Friday.
Friday’s game: vs. DSL Marlins. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 AM CT.
