1:15 p.m.
RHP Michael McGreevy (3-7, 3.12) vs. RHP Jacob Misiorowski (9-4, 1.47)
Cards.TV // KMOX // WIJRJuly 7, 2026 at 10:12 am #312209There has been a change.
Matt Svanson is starting Game 1, with Hunter Dobbins starting Game 2. Bruce Zimmermann is up, likely for bulk innings.

stlcard25ParticipantIt makes last night’s meltdown more painful. Generously, the Cards have about a 5% chance of winning game 1.
July 7, 2026 at 11:13 am #312220This makes me nervous re McGreevy. What’s going on physically that they want him to have the extra day? Also, if he started today, we would be on 4 days’ rest to pitch Sunday. Starting Wednesday means just one more start before the break.
Interesting that Zimmerman is up for bulk. Will he be sent down/released after the first game if he pitches heavy innings with Mautz or Gastelum taking his place?
agreed with stlcard25 re last night. Win last night and all you have to do is win 1 of the next 4 to come out a respectable 2-3. Gulp. Big game for Dobbins tonight.
July 7, 2026 at 12:21 pm #312223Gags, McGreevy says he is OK. Not only him, but everyone gets an extra day of rest.
Zimmermann has no options remaining, so he could be DFAed between games, especially if Game 1 is a pitching debacle, with Gastelum the rumored addition.

stlcard25ParticipantJust as you might expect, JJ gets on base and Walker hits a bomb to give the Cards a 2-0 lead.
July 7, 2026 at 1:37 pm #312227Wetherholt takes a heater to the thigh to open the Cardinals first. He moves to second on a weak grounder to second by Herrera. Walker hits a 2 run bomb. Nootbaar his a double off Misiorowski and his 1.47 ERA coming into the game. 2-0 Cards after 1 inning.
July 7, 2026 at 1:38 pm #312228Zimmerman with a 9 pitch 1-2-3 second inning.
July 7, 2026 at 1:43 pm #312230Chourio may be a dangerous hitter but his fielding isn’t looking too great. He misplayed Noots double and a foul ball that he ran a little ways to get to, his him in the heel of the glove and drops.
July 7, 2026 at 1:45 pm #312231Misiorowski must not be happy about the first inning. He struck out the side in the second for his fourth straight strikeout.
July 7, 2026 at 2:14 pm #312235Ivan homers to put the Cards back up 3-2.
July 7, 2026 at 2:15 pm #312236Thanks, Brian!
July 7, 2026 at 2:24 pm #312237Misiorowski has given up two homers in back to back games. He had only given up two homers in 3 of 35 starts before these two.
July 7, 2026 at 3:02 pm #312239This guy Stanek is 2 or 3 notches below Brett Cecil. Enters a tie game and immediately donates a BB to start the inning, and then doesn’t even have the wherewithal to cover the 1B bag in time when everyone in the entire baseball universe knows that a sac-bunt is coming. Real bad.
July 7, 2026 at 3:07 pm #312240Milwaukee out in front now.
4-3 at 7th inning stretch.
July 7, 2026 at 3:23 pm #312242I haven’t at all been paying attention, but my good friend who’s been closely following the World Cup Soccer matches informed me that the US team was eliminated from contention yesterday. He was somewhat dispirited as a result of that elimination loss. I told him that I was going to be attending a soccer practice for another US soccer team later on this afternoon. He asked about the team and I told him they were known as the “Kickaroos.” I then explained that my three and a half year old granddaughter was on their roster…I’m all amped up for soccer!
July 7, 2026 at 3:34 pm #312243Burly against the lefty with the game on the line was not the desired matchup.
July 7, 2026 at 3:55 pm #312245The Cardinals have committed 4 Das Boots in their last 3 games. In addition to those miscues, a pitcher failed to cover 1B in time during today’s game that proved to be costly and a PB that, could have really hurt but, were able to work around. They should probably leave the oven mitts in the clubhouse for these closely contested and important baseball games.
July 7, 2026 at 3:58 pm #312246That’s a shame. Just not enough oomph.

stlcard25ParticipantGotta take advantage of hitting multiple HR off the Brewers’ ace. Just like last night, an opportunity lost.
The frustrating thing is that Bloom said there’d be no shortcuts. What he apparently meant is that they would actively not try. The bullpen could easily have been better than this.
July 7, 2026 at 5:37 pm #312249Holding a team that is 20+ games over .500 to 4 runs is not cause to complain about our pitching. Scoring 3 each time against such a team is not cause to complain about the offense. They are a much better team and we are doing good not to get blown out.
