The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-2 on Friday. TCN’s Players of the Day are the Springfield offense, with 18 runs to rout Amarillo. Jose Cordoba led with four hits and five RBI, plus Miguel Ugueto, Dakota Harris, Jon Jon Gazdar and Zach Levenson also homered. Other standouts: Victor Scott, Braden Davis and Brian Holiday.

The Triple-A Redbirds pounded the Tides in a 10-2 road win on Friday, their fifth consecutive victory.
Starter Brycen Mautz threw 80 pitches but lasted just 3 2/3 innings, gave up two runs on two hits, walked six and fanned four.
Hancel Rincon relieved Mautz and threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. Tink Hence, Cade Winquest and Skylar Hales tossed a scoreless inning each.
Norfolk took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Memphis put up five runs in the second to go ahead 5-1. Joshua Báez hit a long solo home run to tie for the International League HR lead at 19.

Bligh Madris walked. Ramon Mendoza doubled. In his first plate appearance since coming off the Development List, Colton Ledbetter walked. Jeremy Rivas walked and Madris scored. Victor Scott singled to plate Mendoza and Ledbetter. Rivas scored on a sacrifice double play by Thomas Saggese.

The Redbirds added a run in the top of the third to increase the lead to 6-1. César Prieto doubled and came home on a double by Leo Bernal.
The Tides cut the lead to 6-2 with a run in the home third.
In the sixth, Memphis extended the lead to 8-2. Madris doubled and Ledbetter followed with a two-run home run.

The Redbirds plated two final runs in the ninth to win 10-2. Scott singled and scored on a double by Saggese. Saggese came home on a single by Báez.
The Memphis offense scored 10 runs on 11 hits. Saggese was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Scott was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Báez was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Ledbetter had two RBI and two runs scored. Madris scored twice.
Memphis is 42-25 on the season and is in first place in the International League. Eight games remain in the first half.

Playing as the Snipe Hunters, the Double-A Cardinals walloped the Sod Poodles in an 18-3 blowout on Friday in Springfield.
Starter Braden Davis pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up an unearned run on two hits, walked two and fanned six.

Ryan Murphy relieved Davis and surrendered two runs in 2 1/3 innings but received the win. Michael Watson tossed the final two scoreless innings.
Springfield took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Trey Paige walked and Dakota Harris followed with a two-run home run.

Amarillo scored one run in the third to cut the lead to 2-1.
The Cardinals added three runs in the fifth to increase the lead to 5-1. Jose Cordoba hit a solo home run. Rainiel Rodriguez, Ryan Campos and Zach Levenson walked. Rodriguez and Campos scored on a throwing error.
The Sod Poodles added a run in the top of the sixth to shrink the lead to 5-2.
The Cardinals answered with five runs in the home sixth to run up the score to 10-2. Harris and Brody Moore walked and executed a double steal. Harris scored on a wild pitch. Cordoba plated Moore on a single. Jon Jon Gazdar walked. Rodriguez was hit by a pitch. Miguel Ugueto doubled to drive in Cordoba, Gazdar and Rodriguez.

Amarillo plated one run in the top of the seventh to make it 10-3.
Springfield posted three in the home seventh for a 13-3 score. Harris and Cordoba singled. The runners advanced on a wild pitch. Gazdar blasted a three-run home run.

The Cardinals added five more runs in the eighth for the final score of 18-3. Campos singled. Levenson thumped a two-run home run. Paige walked. Moore doubled. Cordoba hit a three-run home run.

The offense scored 18 runs on 16 hits. Cordoba was 4-for-5 with five RBI and four runs scored. Ugueto was 2-for-6 with three RBI. Harris was 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Rodriguez and Moore were both 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Gazdar had three RBI and two runs scored. Levenson drove in two. Paige and Campos scored two runs.
Moore stole his first base of the season. Harris swiped his 16th bag. Cordoba made a throwing error.
Springfield is 27-33 on the season. They are in third place in the Texas League North.

In a Friday pitching duel, the High-A Chiefs edged the Cubs by the score of 3-1.
Starter Leonel Sequera pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up one run on five hits, walked three and fanned seven.
Jason Savacool threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Nolan Sparks hurled two scoreless innings. Patrick Galle tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his third save.
Peoria went up 2-0 in the first inning. Jack Gurevitch doubled. Cade McGee was hit by a pitch. Jalin Flores advanced the runners on a ground out. Josh Kross plated Gurevitch and McGee on a single.

South Bend scored their only run in the fifth.
The Chiefs added a third run in the seventh. Luis Pino walked. Gurevitch singled. Pino stole third base. McGee walked. Pino scored on a sac fly by Flores.
The offense scored three runs on four hits. Gurevitch was 2-for-4. Kross had two RBI.
Tre Richardson stole his 12th base of the season. Pino swiped his third bag. Christian Martin stole his fifth base.
Sequera made a fielding error.
Peoria is 32-29 on the season. They are in third place in the Midwest League West.

The Low-A Cardinals fell to the Mets by a 2-1 score at Roger Dean Stadium on Friday.
Starter Brian Holiday pitched five scoreless innings, allowed one hit, and fanned four.
Yadiel Batista relieved Holiday and surrendered two runs in three innings and took the loss. Jesús García tossed a scoreless ninth.
The game was a pitcher’s duel when the Cardinals got on the board with run to lead 1-0 in the seventh. Matthew Miura walked and stole second base. Deniel Ortiz walked. Brayden Smith singled to score Miura.
The Mets scored twice in the eighth to take the lead and win the game.
Palm Beach scored one run on six hits. Smith was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Smith stole three bases. Springfield rehabber Ortiz swiped two bags. Miura stole his fourth base.
Smith made a fielding error. Batista picked a runner off first base.
The Cardinals are 31-30 on the season. They are in second place in the Florida State League East, 4 games back of Jupiter.

DSL Cardinals 5, DSL NYY Bombers 20
The Dominican Cardinals were massacred by the NYY Bombers by a 20-5 score on Friday. All six Cards pitchers were scored upon.
Starter Efrén Álvarez pitched 1 2/3 innings, gave up three runs, two earned, on no hits, walked six and struck out two. Alvarez took the loss.
Emilio Jiménez relieved Alvarez and surrendered five runs in 1 2/3 innings. Brayan Amoroso relinquished three runs in 1 2/3 innings. Domingo Mejía yielded five runs in 1/3 of an inning. Andey Garrido allowed one run in 1 2/3 innings. Christian Sáez gave up three runs in the final two innings.
The Bombers took a 1-0 lead in the first and added two runs in the second.
The Cardinals scored two runs in the third to cut the lead to 3-2. Yeferson Portolatin walked. Sebastian Rojas reached on an error. Christopher Vargas singled to score Portolatin. Rojas came home on a force out by Michael Cordero.
The Bombers put up six runs in the fourth, added seven more in the sixth and one in the top of the seventh to increase the lead to 17-2.
The Cardinals scored three runs in the home seventh. Sáez singled, advanced to second, third and scored on three wild pitches. Rojas walked and advanced two bases on wild pitches. Vargas was hit by a pitch. Cordero walked. Rojas scored on a sac fly by Misael Sánchez. Lucas Takahashi plated Vargas on a single.
The Bombers made it 20-5 in the ninth.
The Cardinals scored five runs on seven hits. Sánchez was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Takahashi drove in two. Rojas scored two runs.
Álvarez made an error on a pickoff attempt. Sánchez had a throwing error and a fielding error.
The Cardinals are 6-3 on the season with a one-game lead in the DSL Southeast.
