The St. Louis Cardinals system was 2-3 on Wednesday, as the two Jupiter-based teams shut out the Mets over 18 innings. The Cardinal Nation’s Players of the Day are the Palm Beach team, which scored 17 runs while shutting out St. Lucie on one hit. The offense was led by Yordalin Peña, Jonathan Mejía, Ryan Mitchell and Matthew Miura. Other standouts include Cade Crossland, Miguel Hernandez and J.P. Cabrera.

Memphis at Norfolk (postponed)
Wednesday’s Triple-A game in Virginia was postponed due to rain. It will be played as one game of a doubleheader on Thursday, June 11.
Memphis is 39-25 on the season and is in second place in the International League.
Thursday’s game: at Norfolk, LHP Quinn Mathews (2-3, 4.53) vs RHP Nestor German (3-1, 4.08) 11:05 am CT (game one); at Norfolk, LHP Bruce Zimmermann (4-3, 4.50) vs. Trace Bright RHP (0-4, 6.75) (game two).
The Double-A Cardinals were walloped by the Sod Poodles by a 14-4 score on Wednesday. Starter Liam Doyle pitched four innings, gave up four runs on eight hits, walked two and fanned six. Doyle took the loss.
Dominic Picone surrendered five runs in the fifth. D.J. Carpenter yielded three runs in the sixth. Edwin Nuñez hurled two scoreless innings. In his system debut, Andrew Schultz relinquished two runs in the ninth.
Amarillo went ahead 4-0 in the second inning. They added five runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to extend the lead to 12-0.
Springfield finally got on the board in the seventh with solo home runs by Brody Moore and Chase Adkison to cut the lead to 12-2.

The Cardinals added two runs in the eighth to reduce the deficit to 12-4. Ryan Campos walked. Travis Honeyman grounded into a force out, eliminating Campos on second. Dakota Harris followed with a two-run home run.

The Sod Poodles put up two more runs in the ninth for the final score of 14-4.
The Cardinals scored four runs on nine hits. Rainiel Rodriguez was 2-for-4. Harris had two RBI.
Honeyman stole two bases. Harris swiped his 15th bag. Rodriguez was caught stealing.
Jon Jon Gazdar made a throwing error.
Springfield is 26-32 on the season. They are in fourth place in the Texas League North.
Thursday’s game: vs. Amarillo, SHP Jurrangelo Cijntje (3-3, 5.15) vs. Daniel Eagen RHP (0-5, 6.04) 7:05 CT.
Peoria 3 at South Bend 5 (seven innings)
The High-A Chiefs fell to the Cubs, 5-3, in a seven-inning contest on Wednesday. Because the start was delayed to 9:20 p.m., the game was limited to seven innings.
Starter Nate Dohm pitched four innings, gave up two runs on four hits, walked two and fanned four.
Jawilme Ramírez relieved Dohm and surrendered three runs in 2/3 of an inning. Ramírez took the loss. Jose Davila tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
Peoria took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Jesús Báez hit a solo home run. Jack Gurevitch walked. Jalin Flores singled. Josh Kross plated Gurevitch on a single.

South Bend tied the game in the third and added three runs in the fifth to lead 5-2.
The Chiefs scored one run in the sixth. Cameron Nickens and Anyelo Encarnación singled. Nickens came home on a single by Báez.
The Chiefs scored three runs on seven hits. Báez was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Flores was 2-for-4.
Dohm made an error on a pickoff attempt.
Peoria is 30-29 on the season. They are in third place in the Midwest League West.
Thursday’s game: at South Bend, Tanner Franklin RHP (2-1, 3.60) vs. Cole Reynolds LHP (2-1, 5.70) 6:05 CT.
The Low-A Cardinals routed the Mets in a 17-0 shutout on Wednesday at Roger Dean Stadium.
Starter Cade Crossland pitched five scoreless, no-hit innings, walked four and fanned four to earn his third win.
Hunter Kublick and Justin Militello tossed two scoreless innings each. Combined, the three Beach Birds hurlers allowed just one hit, a single, walked four and fanned eight.
Palm Beach went up 2-0 in the second inning as Chase Heath and Yordalin Peña hit solo home runs.

The Beach Birds added six runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 8-0. Brayden Smith and Jonathan Mejía singled. Heath walked. Peña singled to score Smith. Matthew Miura singled to plate Mejía. Ryan Mitchell hit a grand slam.

In the fifth, the Cardinals put up nine runs to increase the lead to 17-0. Mejía walked. Heath doubled to score Mejía. Heath came home on a passed ball. Peña hit his second solo home run.

Trevor Haskins doubled and scored on a single by Miura. Mitchell walked. Ryan Wiengartner singled to drive home Miura. Michael Dattalo doubled to score Mitchell. Smith walked. Mejía doubled to clear the bases for three runs.
The Cardinals scored 17 runs on 20 hits. Miura was 4-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored. Peña was 3-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored. Heath was 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Mejía was 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Dattalo was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Weingartner was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Mitchell had four RBI and two runs scored.
Smith made a fielding error.
The Cardinals are 31-28 on the season. They are in second place in the Florida State League East, two games back of Jupiter.

FCL Cardinals 10 at FCL Mets 0
The rookie Cardinals also blanked the Mets in a 10-0 rout on Wednesday.
Starter Gabriel Chinchilla pitched four scoreless innings, allowed one hit, walked one and fanned seven.
Victor Santos, opening his rehab assignment from Memphis, relieved Chinchilla and threw a scoreless fifth. Brailyn Paulino hurled two scoreless innings to earn the win. Andrew Bolívar pitched a scoreless eighth. Yordy Herrera tossed a scoreless ninth. The four hurlers scattered seven hits, walked two and struck out 10 to keep the Mets off the board.
The Cardinals went up 4-0 in the second inning. Miguel Hernandez walked and advanced to second on a throwing error. Kenly Hunter walked. Royelny Strop singled to score Hernandez. J.P. Cabrera doubled to plate Hunter. Strop came home on a balk. Cabrera scored on a fielding error.
The Cardinals added two runs in the sixth to increase the lead to 6-0. Strop doubled. Cabrera doubled and Strop scored. Cabrera advanced on a balk and came home on a wild pitch.
The Cardinals extended their lead to 9-0 with three runs in the seventh. Deniel Ortiz, on a rehab assignment from Springfield, singled. Sebastian Dos Santos walked. Ortiz stole third and Dos Santos stole second. Hernandez followed with a three-run home run.
The Cardinals added a final run in the ninth on a solo home run by Hernandez to win 10-0.
The Cardinals scored 10 runs on 12 hits. Hernandez was 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored. Cabrera was 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Strop was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Ortiz was 3-for-4.
Hernandez stole his sixth base of the season. Ortiz swiped two bags. Dos Santos stole his ninth base. Dos Santos was also caught stealing.
Hunter had an outfield assist at home plate.
The Cardinals are 9-17 on the season and are in last place in the FCL East.

DSL Cardinals 3 at DSL Giants Black 8
The academy Cardinals lost to the Giants Black by the score of 8-3 on Wednesday. Starter Juan Garcia pitched three innings, gave up three runs on five hits, walked two and struck out two. Garcia took the loss.
Jordan Beltrán relieved Garcia and surrendered two runs in 2 1/3 innings. Juan Santillán threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Saúl Figuereo allowed one run without recording an out. Kriscol Peralta yielded two runs in the eighth.
The Giants took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and added two runs in the third.
The Cardinals scored one run in the fifth to cut the lead to 3-1. Diego Conseción and Emanuel Luna walked. Luis Estrella was hit by a pitch. Conseción stole home.
The Giants scored two more runs in the sixth to extend their lead to 5-1. The Cardinals added a second run in the top of the eighth. Jesús Pérez singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Pérez later scored on a passed ball.
The Giants answered with three runs in the home eighth to increase the lead to 8-2. The Cardinals rallied for one run in the ninth to bring the score to 8-3. Yeferson Portolatin was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Portolatin later scored on a sac fly by Sebastian Rojas.
The Cardinals scored three runs on just two hits, both by Pérez.
Portolatin stole his third base of the season. Conseción swiped his first bag. Pérez stole his second base.
Luna made a fielding error. Rojas had a passed ball.
The Cardinals are 5-2 on the season.
