RHP Dustin May (3-2, 5.28) vs. LHP Justin Wrobleski (4-0, 1.50)
Cards.TV // KMOX // WIJRMay 2, 2026 at 11:00 pm #306525Although I was led to understand that the ongoing W streak would fall short of the blistering 17 game W streak of ’21, I was once again paid a visit by that clever little baseball gypsy and his trusty crystal ball as I was preparing a late night snack consisting of triple chocolate cream cake from Aldi’s and a tall glass of ice cold cows’ milk to celebrate tonight’s W over the mighty Dodgers. That little baseball gypsy is beginning to get my undivided attention. He appeared in the kitchen and, like he always does said, “Here I’m is!”…He then assured me that the Redbirds will complete the 3 game sweep of those Dodgers on Sunday afternoon. I never, ever make predictions. Especially about the future. However, I believe that little so and so baseball gypsy and his trusty crystal ball may know a thing or two…You heard it here first.
May 2, 2026 at 11:13 pm #306526Wrobleski has just about been their best pitcher lately, next to Watubi. Redbirds will be fortunate to get the sweep.
And din-din on this fine Sunday will be a ribeye steak in the air fryer, some jumbo crinkle cut french fries, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, and a big bowl of Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream. Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for the first 2-3 innings of the Reds and Pirates from Three Rivers Stadium before we switch over. Along with a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar.

May 3, 2026 at 1:42 am #306527Rat I was under the false impression apparently that the herdog was no longer with us- make sure she gets some of that ribeye👌
May 3, 2026 at 8:54 am #306535The late James Thurston Nabors (aka Gomer Pyle- USMC) would have summed this Cardinals start to the 2026 campaign up best with his often used words “surprise surprise surprise”! A win today and it will be a record tying mlb record perfect week…….7 games up and 7 games going smack dab right into the win column. It won’t be an easy task sealing the deal as the hurler we’re facing today has the knack for keeping batters off balance…….wobbly if you will.
That’s a basic but extremely solid din-din that Rat has put on the board today. His submissions are generally tough to beat for Din-Din of The Day honors. But today’s is beatable……the door is agape for Rat getting tripped up today. I’m having an extremely early din-din today, as the Golden Nest restaurant closes at 2pm in beautiful Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. To avoid missing the game, I’ll be heading over at high noon for the best omelet you’ve ever tasted. Mine will be filled with extra cheddar, extra onion and green peppers, fruit cup and french toast. Then around 6pm I’ll be only having pineapple, cantaloupe and grapes…..and maybe a peanut butter, butter and strawberry jelly sandwich.
Yes Grays, the great Whitey HerDog is still alive and kicking……for at least the next 6 years or so.
May 3, 2026 at 9:05 am #306536This will be an acid test for May’s turnaround.
We will continue to see if the league adjusts to Walker’s adjustments to their adjustments to his offseason adjustments.
Speaking of adjustments – Gorman needs to make some and I’m sure he’s trying.
Scott II’s stat line is starting to look cringy.
May 3, 2026 at 9:22 am #306538The Cardinals and Dodgers now have identical records of 20-13. Raise your hand if you had that on your May 3 bingo card. Not me. Maybe Chaim Bloom learned a thing or two from his former boss Andrew Friedman.
Unfortunately all five NLC teams are off to a blistering start. What a tough division!
May 3, 2026 at 10:37 am #306540Scoreboard watching for me as I am working the Rockies-Braves contest this afternoon.
No idea what is in store for din-din as I will find out when I get home later. The Lovely Lady Bike will likely have something delicious ready though.
Yesterday we headed out of town to rural Colorado for what was billed as “the best hole-in-the-wall-burger joint.” A little place called “Bud’s Bar” had four items on the menu, burgers, double burgers, cheese burgers, double cheese burgers.” We went for the cheese burgers, which came with chips, pickles and onions. Pretty darn good. Great old timey type bar with mostly old guys at the bar drinking Coors, and a few booths.
So a Dustin-Justin match-up today. Hope 1TDs Gypsy is still spot on. My sense is we drop this one along the lines of a heart-breaking 4-3 score, but I will be happy to be wrong.
May 3, 2026 at 10:43 am #306541Lets bring out our very best “rebuild” tools today and give these blue Dodgers a red paint job they can take with them to Houston. I don’t know what these Cardinals have been eating lately but I want some.
Speaking of eating, I am in the middle of preparing some very unFrench enchiladas and refried beans that I’ll be serving shortly, to be followed by large slices of rhubarb pie.
Rah Cardinals!
May 3, 2026 at 10:51 am #306542Nice CIF. My dad loved rhubarb pie, but us kids were so-so on it. As I recall it would taste a lot like apple pie, but then would have sort of a bitter taste to it at times.
May 3, 2026 at 11:00 am #306543followed by large slices of rhubarb pie
My mother-in-law made fantastic rhubarb pie. She was an old school farm lady from the Ozarks. She also could make racoon which was indistinguishable from fried chicken except for the gravy, which was the best gravy I’ve ever tasted. Lots of other good stuff. Duck with no shotgun pellets because they hunted them with a .22 rifle. The future Lady Bling’s dad and brothers were good shots, which I always kept in mind.
May 3, 2026 at 11:13 am #306544I’m still thinking about O’Brien’s performance last evening. Impressive that he kept his cool through all that in the ninth inning. Kept throwing strikes. Quality strikes. Trusted his ability.
May 3, 2026 at 11:22 am #306545Bikemike: Yeah, it does take a lot of sugar to avoid locking your jaws. It’s my second favorite, right after blueberry.
May 3, 2026 at 12:29 pm #306546JJ Wetherholt (L) 2B
Iván Herrera (R) DH
Jordan Walker (R) RF
Alec Burleson (L) 1B
Masyn Winn (R) SS
José Fermín (R) LF
Nathan Church (L) CF
Pedro Pagés (R) C
Ramón Urías (R) 3BMay 3, 2026 at 1:40 pm #306551May continues his struggles against lefties. 2-0 Dodgers. Though this is what we might see today.
May 3, 2026 at 1:47 pm #306552Not a great call to run us out of the inning.
May 3, 2026 at 1:47 pm #306553That double steal attempt did not work well.
We’ll see if the May settles in. Three hits in the first two for the Cards, though they’ve only made him throw 18 pitches between the DP and the CS.
May 3, 2026 at 2:06 pm #306554Can’t capitalize with 2 outs. This time we didn’t run out of the inning.
May 3, 2026 at 2:23 pm #306555Another 2 out rally falls short as Pages lines out to left.
May 3, 2026 at 2:32 pm #306556Freeman with a 2 out single. 3-0
May 3, 2026 at 2:38 pm #306559Wrobleski looks like he’ll get 7 innings in. Just six for May. I wonder if we will get a Shuster sighting in the 7th to give some of the other guys some rest heading into the Brewer series.
May 3, 2026 at 2:48 pm #306560May didn’t have great stuff but he got through 6.
Yeah Im guessing mail it Marmol with throw out some combo of Shuster, Svanson. Bruihltil. Lol
May 3, 2026 at 2:51 pm #306561It seems like we always have two outs.
May 3, 2026 at 3:04 pm #306563Pretty sure we have had 8 runners, but only two before two out.
And only 6 innings for Wroblewski. Three innings for the bullpen to handle gives a bit more hope.
May 3, 2026 at 3:08 pm #306564Booyah – Who do you expect him to use while down 3? Graceffo has pitched a lot lately and Romero, O’Brien, and Stanek pitched yesterday so I’m sure they’d prefer not to use them on back to back days unless they are absolutely needed. That leaves the 3 you mentioned plus Soriano. Plus the Dodgers have lots of lefties in their lineup. Unless we were winning in a close one today, we were always going to see Bruihl and Shuster.
