You never know – they could score 10 runs today but – 162 games with about this lineup would lose 110 games, lol
5-9 is as bad as I’ve ever seen.
Per the MLB box score, yesterday’s attendance (tickets sold) was 36,212. Not bad at all, considering. My guess is most teams that are out of it didn’t do that well.

Yeah, 5 thru 9 looks like a bakery case tray of cupcakes and cream puffs. Just for fun I tallied up the career HR total of the 2 thru 6 hitters from the box score of an August ’04 game. The entire sack of taters came to precisely 2100 HR’s between those 5 bats. And Lankford wasn’t even in the lineup that day…Haha! In any case, you could throw Albert Pujols into today’s line-up and it wouldn’t instill much, if any, fear in an opposing pitcher. He’d simple work around him.
I hope they have private tutoring this offseaon for a number of other Cardinals besides Herrera. Like most of them.
Brewers are 3-3 stealing off Crooks, two of that is a double steal of 2nd and 3rd. Now the hope is Herrera will be better after this winter’s elbow surgery on his throwing arm.

an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.
The 120 IBB’s to Bonds in ’04 is maybe the singlemost astonishing baseball number on the back of a position player’s card that I’ve ever contemplated. Wilson’s 191 RBI’s in ’30 is mind boggling, but those IBB’s to Bonds are extra special silly.
Also loved that Gorman AB with the bases loaded, three pitches, three strikes, including one pitch that was closer to crossing third base than home plate.

Finishing the entire last week of the season on the road stinks. Having no October baseball to look forward to stinks. Not even being in the hunt for the last month, no thrill of the chase, no competitive fire to boil the juices…stinks.
Hopefully Bloom can bring back interesting Cardinal baseball in October again. It’s been too long.
I’ve been impressed with Liberatore this month. I think he was cooked a few weeks ago after the high workload.
Neither Crooks nor Church look ready for prime time. But then when Winn came up in ‘23 he was overmatched, but came on strong in ‘24 and has continued to mature.
He and Herrera are our success stories thus far. I think Scott will improve also. Walker and Gorman appear to be busts. Too early to tell with Crooks and Church.
The limited amount I’ve watched Church, he seemed like he has the tools to succeed. I think he needs some more time to adjust. He looks like he could be a lot better hitter than Scott. I like Church’s defense in CF, too. His arm is light years better than Scott.
Yeah Forsch, I see that potential with Church as well. Good athleticism, seems to have the tools and just needs the reps. I like Scott too though.
