1:15 p.m.
RHP Sonny Gray (12-7, 4.19) vs. RHP Luis Morales (2-0, 1.19)
FanDuel // KMOXAugust 31, 2025 at 2:15 pm #291653A Labor Day special with Sonny Gray pitching against the team that he came up to the big leagues with.
August 31, 2025 at 4:37 pm #291657This game may be the definitve example of a farce. Any baseball game played between the St. Louis, Cardinals and a team called the Athletics, who currently represent nowhere, played in Sept. is an ideal illustration that proves how quickly a product can deteriorate when sheer and unmitigated profit is the one and only consideration.

ParticipantMorales only started 2 games? Maybe we have a good chance to win this one.If we did shed Noot, Gorman and Walker who would you anticipate replacing them? More rookies or worse? If you want them to get better it takes awhile. Baders looking pretty good now what 3 years later? Got beat the other night by Pham of all people. Some if our gzys have really made the rounds.
September 1, 2025 at 7:51 am #291670The forecast for the game is 72°, and it’s a holiday. They can sell 30,000 tickets for this one, right? The DeWitts better hope as Tuesday and Wednesday will likely slide toward 20,000 sold.
September 1, 2025 at 9:15 am #291675We certainly cannot take this Luis Danys Morales fellow lightly. He was in the Midwest League just last year and has ascended rapidly through their system. A Cuban whom initially defected to Mexico a few years back. Luis sports a nice fastball, slider and changeup. I wouldn’t expect him to go further than 4 1/3 innings today. My projected line for young Luis is going 4 1/3 innings, surrendering 3 runs(2 earned) on 4 hits, striking out 6 while walking 2. Let’s call it 6-4 Cards with Jordan Walker shanking a long tater shall we.
September 1, 2025 at 10:15 am #291677I am acclimating to being a fan of a team that is not too good. I look forward to seeing how we do against teams that do not have us massively outclassed talent wise. We can take these chumps.
The labor day bbq will feature ballpark dogs as always. Kraut of course. And we’ve got some jiffy pop stove top popcorn that we will pop on the grill after the dogs are done. I also have our last watermelon in a cooler on ice. I had a good crop this year. I don’t have a lot of space so once the tomatoes get a good start I plant the watermelons amongst them. Its a constant battle keeping the vines from overwhelming the tomatoes, but I never have to weed or till and the ground doesn’t dry out. Every few years we do pumpkins instead.
September 1, 2025 at 11:06 am #291679Basic, but sweet little din-din, Blingster! I’m going a similar route, din-dining it up with 2 all beef dogs with heavy raw onions and yellow mustard……just 1 with kraut mingled in. Also, on the din-din docket will be homemade deviled eggs and Ruffles potato chips, which will be dipped into sour cream. A red soda pop will accompany, with no dessert today, as ol’ Pugsaroo here is watching the waistline for a day or two. I’m thinking 2027 will be a great time to plant your pumpkins again, Bling……..hopefully also the year when our boys can once again eclipse the .500 mark.
September 1, 2025 at 11:38 am #291680I have leftover Rich and Charlies salad and linguine with clams. Arnie Palmer Half and Half lemonade and teaa. I have a box of Entenmans doughnuts I intend to destroy. Did a 30 mile bike ride this am I earned it. Gonna trim a tree in a few minutes before the game starts. The frames on my glasses broke so i have 1 pair for looking up and 1 pair for looking down. Maybe I can get mrs. Kcb to take them and get them fixed tomorrow. I have to work. Happy labor day all!
September 1, 2025 at 12:20 pm #291682I just consumed two grilled Nathan’s Jumbo Dogs covered in mustard and wrapped in low carb tortillas, a few slices of some delicious prosciutto wrapped in swiss cheese, and a few salt and pepper pork rinds washed down with some diet mountain dew. Tonight it is more yummy ceaser burgers.
September 1, 2025 at 2:06 pm #291689Green’s far from my favorite color but for one reason or another I’ve always liked the look of the A’s uniform’s. Especially the home whites accompanied with the green cap along with the yellow bill.
September 1, 2025 at 2:10 pm #291690And I’m aware that I’ve been making a lot of references to uniforms lately, but when you’re 2 games under even and 17 games off the pace in Sept. there’s not too much to talk about.
September 1, 2025 at 2:12 pm #291691Gray is a color im not real crazy about
September 1, 2025 at 2:21 pm #291692Me either KCB, but it’s normally the color of choice when dining at the hotel.
September 1, 2025 at 2:24 pm #291693Boy, Sagesse let that baseball eat him up alive and it didn’t even look to be hit that awfully hard.
September 1, 2025 at 3:18 pm #291695The A’s, who don’t even have a home ballpark, have walked into the Cardinals home ballpark to outclass the Redbirds along with their best SP’er. Not a good look.
September 1, 2025 at 3:33 pm #291696I’ve always liked the look of the A’s uniform’s.
It sounds like you are an Athletics supporter, TD.
September 1, 2025 at 3:49 pm #291698I’m with Dom. I like The A’s unis. I used to see them at old Muni Stadium in KC. It was a real circus. Literally. Charlie O was the mascot-a mule.
September 1, 2025 at 3:54 pm #291699Haha…They don’t need any support today. They’re handing the Cardinals their backsides to them. Now, if they could only find a city that’d allow them to stick around they might do okay. Maybe they’ll move here after Willie Jr. sneaks the Cardinals off to Little Rock…
September 1, 2025 at 4:06 pm #291701Cardinals feature 3 Das Boots on the way to getting trounced 11-3 in their own ballpark by a last place team who doesn’t even have anywhere to call home. Sad to say, but this team consistently features what I’d term a second rate, bush league performance.
September 1, 2025 at 5:00 pm #291702I’ve always said I’ll love the Cardinals no matter what, but doggone it that “what” is sure getting hard to take!
September 1, 2025 at 5:19 pm #291703As we enter the home stretch on this 2025 season, some clarity is being gained as to how our 2026 starting rotation may look. Our #4 and #5 starters look like they may be set. Sonny and Libby will hopefully be equal to task next year. Now all we need is to find our Ace, #2 and #3 starters this off season. For starters, maybe we can swing a deal for this Morales kid we faced today, as he has great potential to slide right into that #3 slot for us.
September 1, 2025 at 5:45 pm #291704Man, glad I got out to the reservoir for some paddle boarding today rather than sit around watching this fiasco. Saw the score when I got back. Yesterday we kicked around with my wife’s brother and sister-in-law, so that spared me another loss. If I am correct from looking at the last two box scores, Walker has gone 0 for 8 with 6 strikeouts. Man, that is just bad.
As for those Oakland, er A’s uni’s, back in the ‘70s I was playing in a 19 and over baseball league. A bunch of us in my hometown who were pretty good ball players put a team together, and we had to get uniforms. A couple of the guys loved the green-and-gold look, and we ordered uniforms of that combo similar to the A’s. There is a picture somewhere from back then that my mom took of me wearing that uni.
September 1, 2025 at 6:12 pm #291705Crooks hits a homer yesterday, so Marmol decides to sit him today instead of getting a young guy some experience for next year.
Think this says a lot about Marmol knowing his job is on the line
But it’s another example of how he has been a terrible manager for young player development.
