…and the see saw battle for .500 continues.

If you think about making the playoffs and what that should mean and then you look at the teams that are ‘still in the race’ for WC3 it’s easy to see that too many teams get in – but the dollar bill is the King and everyone and everything bows down to it.

Winning your division with a scuffling record is a totally different discussion by the way.

I’ve learned to think of it as comparable to all of the kids on every team being treated to an ice cream or a snow cone after the game. And the team that wins the WS gets…Pizza!

One thing is clear: We won’t finish in the cellar.

I mean, that is pretty clear isn’t it?

    There’s nothing in that lineup.

    No hitters at all.

And the Cubs finally win a game. They got two in the last of the 8th and beat the Pirates 3-1 today at Wrigley Field.

Mo would like to remind you of the two first rounders, and the two second rounders in tonights lineup. There’s also a pair of fifth rounders, a sixth rounder and an 8th. Draft central, front and center.

Man, that is a bad lineup. I wouldn’t have assumed that around 2022-2023 when Walker looked like one of the best hitting prospects in the game and Winn, Herrera and Burly were tearing up the minors and Gorman was still holding his own. But…it’s a bad lineup.

Donnie and Contreras are still hobbled day to day and Nado is on the IL so the lineup is slim pickings. I don’t think Fried has ever thrown a no hitter but tonight might be his chance.

    Winn with a big HR.

Scott almost makes a highlight reel catch on the Judge home run.

Despite almost 20 less PA’s, Winn leads Donovan in RBI’s, R’s, and 2B’s. The young SS has produced with the bat.

Well as I always say, you get good starting pitching and you have a chance. You don’t, and it’s real frustrating as no matter how well you hit, you usually find yourself looking up at the other club’s score.

Yeah Forsch, it’s more like a library than a sports bar this season…I still recall on the old Cardinal MLB chat forum during the ’11 WS there were over 20K comments in each of the game 6 and 7 game threads.

At least it looks like the kids are still having some fun at the ballpark and that’s by far the most important thing.

And because this is baseball, the Cardinals hottest hitter in August is by far and away Pedro Pages who is now running a WRC+ over 250. Next best is Contreras at 136.

Reds lead the Brewers by a score of 2-1 in with the Brewers batting in the visitor half of the 9th. I know where I’d place my money…

Quite the pitching duel we have here.
