The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-0 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, rehabbing Springfield 2B Nolan Gorman, hit a two-run home run and a double. Other standouts include Pete Hansen, Andrew Dutkanych and Jonathan Mejia.

The Triple-A Redbirds edged the Tides by a 5-4 score in Norfolk on Wednesday. Starter Aaron Wilkerson pitched four innings, gave up two runs on four hits, struck out two and walked four.
Alex Cornwell relieved Wilkerson and surrendered one run in 2 2/3 innings. Chris Roycroft threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Oddanier Mosqueda yielded one run in the ninth.
Norfolk took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Memphis put up three runs in the top of the fourth. Michael Siani doubled. Matt Lloyd singled. Siani scored on a sac fly by Gavin Collins. Bryan Torres doubled to plate Lloyd. Torres came home on a single by Mike Antico.

The Tides got one run back in the home fourth.
In the top of the sixth, the Redbirds added a run to increase their lead to 4-2. Lloyd and Collins singled. Lloyd scored on a sac fly by Torres.
Norfolk scored another run in the home sixth to shrink the lead to 4-3.
Memphis answered with a run in the seventh to widen the lead to 5-3. Nathan Church singled. Jimmy Crooks walked. Siani drove in Church on a single.
The Tides added one run in the ninth to lose, 5-4.
The Redbirds scored five runs on 12 hits. Siani was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Antico was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Church was 2-for-5. Lloyd was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Torres had two RBI.
On the bases, Church stole his seventh base of the season. On defense, Church made a fielding error.
Memphis is 55-47 overall, 14-15 in the second half. They are 8.5 games back of IL leader Scranton.
Thursday’s game: at Norfolk, Curtis Taylor RHP (5-3, 3.16) vs. Kyle Brnovich RHP (2-3, 6.09) 11:05 am CT.
The Double-A Cardinals defeated the Travelers by a 6-4 score at Hammons Field on Wednesday.
Starter Pete Hansen pitched six innings, gave up three runs on nine hits, and fanned six to earn his seventh win.
Luis Gastelum relieved Hansen and threw two perfect innings, including four strikeouts. Osvaldo Berrios surrendered one run in the ninth but received his fourth save.

Arkansas took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Springfield put up three runs in the third to take the lead. Carlos Linarez singled and Nolan Gorman followed with a two-run home run. Leonardo Bernal thumped a solo home run.

The Cardinals added two runs in the fourth to increase the lead to 5-1. Trey Paige singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Chase Davis drove in Paige on a single.
The Travelers scored two runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-3.
The Cardinals answered with a run in the sixth to widen the lead to 6-3. Linares singled, advanced on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch.
Arkansas rallied for one run in the ninth but fell short, as the Cardinals took the game 6-4.
The offense scored six runs on 11 hits. Linarez was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Davis had two RBI. Joshua Baez singled, walked and stole two bases.
For the St. Louis rehabbers, Gorman was 2-for-4, a double and home run, with two RBI and a strikeout. Right fielder Lars Nootbaar went 1-for-4 with a strikeout.
Springfield is 62-36 overall, 19-10 in the second half and is in first place in the Texas League North.
Thursday’s game: vs Arkansas, Hancel Rincon RHP (3-2, 3.40) vs. Adam Seminaris LHP (4-5, 2.68) 7:05 CT.
Peoria at Beloit (postponed)
The High-A Chiefs’ Wednesday night game at Beloit was postponed due to inclement weather. It will be made up on Thursday, July 31 as the opener of a doubleheader.
Peoria is 39-57 overall, 13-18 in the second half, and is in fifth place in the Midwest League West, 5 games back of Beloit.
Thursday’s games: at Beloit, Jason Savacool RHP (3-0, 4.26) vs. Brayan Mendoza LHP (3-3, 5.63) 6:05 CT (game one); at Beloit, Gerardo Salas RHP (3-9, 8.24) vs. Noble Meyer RHP (1-2, 4.63) (game two).
Palm Beach 5 at Daytona 3 (seven innings)
The Class-A Cardinals beat the Tortugas by the score of 5-3 in a seven-inning delayed start game in Daytona on Wednesday.
In his Palm Beach debut, starter Andrew Dutkanych pitched three scoreless innings, allowed one hit, fanned seven and walked one.
Keiverson Ramirez relieved Dutkanych and surrendered three runs in three innings but received the win. Zeke Wood tossed a scoreless seventh.
The Beach Birds took the first inning lead on a solo home run by Jonathan Mejia. They added three runs in the third. Mejia walked. Miguel Ugueto reached on a fielder’s choice and Mejia advanced to third. Yordalin Pena reached on an error and Mejia scored. Sammy Hernandez walked. Christian Martin walked to score Ugueto. Pena came home on a force out by Bryce Madon.
Daytona came back to score three runs and cut the lead to 4-3. Palm Beach increased the lead to 5-3 in the seventh. Mejia tripled and scored on a Ugueto double.
The Cardinals scored five runs on six hits. Mejia was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Ugueto was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Martin was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
On the bases, Martin stole his 17th base of the season. Ugueto swiped his second bag. Madron was caught stealing.
Palm Beach is 48-47 overall, 16-14 in the second half, and is in second place in the FSL East, 5.5 games back of St. Lucie.
Thursday’s game: at Daytona, RHP Jacob Odle (0-2, 5.83) vs. Adrian Herrera RHP (5-2, 6.66) 5:29 CT.
DSL Cardinals – Off day
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals are 20-21 on the season and are in third place in the DSL Southeast Division, five games back of the Marlins.
