I congratulate the Cardinals for not trading him in the offseason and getting negative value from him this year.

Obviously there were no takers in a possible deal. After last night you had to know his fate was sealed as a Cardinal. This is one small first step in the roster changes. We will see what happens next.

Not like you would’ve trusted bowtie to get anything of value in the off-season even if something came up. So you’d either complain about it now or later.

    5-15 with a 4.69 ERA in 30 starts.

Cards effectively and literally get 0 for Tommy Edman lol.

I complained about it the whole offseason and kept thinking they would surely trade him. They didn’t. While he was ok for a few months, he was just blocking McGreevey. Then he was terrible and it really hurt the team. This couldn’t have worked out more poorly.

I would love to know who’s decision it was to keep him this season instead of using him to help stock the new player developement system. I think we know the answer. There’s no guarantee Bloom will be the savior of this organization. But It’s been really sad watching the slow death of the Mo Regime. They didnt do him any favors by keeping him around.

Exactly why he cannot be trusted to deal coming up. What a MESS.

Lol, I’d have settled for a month’s supply of Coca Cola for the locker room in trade. It further cements the piss poor job Don Mo did running this team. I’m unfortunately still waiting for his release.

Don’t forget Tommy Pham. Then there was Shawn Armstrong. So zero for Edman and Carlson. Three DFAs from last year’s deadline moves.

You got it Brian! Very disappointing. I hope Bloom is taking notes as to what not to do!

And now we are going to trust this FO to make good decisions 8 days from now! C’mon man! This is a rudderless ship! Hope is rapidly going for me!

It’s exactly why he should have been fired during the off-season. And frankly speaking, I don’t have any confidence Bloom will be any better.

I think it’s little dramatic to just lose all hope based on a lame duck POBO and his decisions which likely aren’t going to get the haul people think. I just want to set you up for this.

Right now our best hope is we find a way to deal with the dodgers. At least we know most of those prospects might actually contribute something. Hopefully we can get some prospect looking to bounce back from an injury or maybe a top 15-20 fireballer for the pen. Heck maybe both if we get lucky.

My guess it was 29 other rganization’s decision to not be interested.

It’s not dramatic at all. The guy replacing that lame duck was fired from his last job for failure to perform. What makes you think it will be any different with his crew running the show? This thing has been a mess for a long while now. I just want to set you up for this.

The Dodgers aren’t dumb enough to give us anything except for Helsley. We have nothing else they want or need.

That was a great trade….they are insane if they let the same guy keep making trades this year….hopefully this will be a wake up call

Fedde DFA’ed? Let me go run outside real quick and scream in joy that Michael McGreevy isn’t stuck behind the trio of Pulverized Pallante, Free Pass Fedde, and Meatball Mikolas. 1 down and at least 1 more to go. I don’t know who you pitch in that other rotation spot, but find anyone else. I don’t care if they pitch poorly, find a young guy who needs the innings to develop and get rid of Mikolas next.

I agree, ATM. It’s high time to place some of these young arms in the midst of the proving grounds.

If you’d like to know more about how the organization has wound up where it is today, Josh Jacobs wrote in redbirdsrants.com about the failure of the last few seasons by Mozeliak & co. It is an explanation of how, under Mozeliak’s regime, the Cardinals went from a well respected organization to the ineptitude of today’s team.

Everyone needs to take a deep breath and then let it slowly sink in…….Erick Fedde will NEVER again throw a pitch in a St. Louis Cardinals uniform. Tissue anyone?
