The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 3-4 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, DSL Cardinals catcher Jhonny Chaparro, was 2-for-2 with three walks and four RBI in the Cardinals’ 14-8 win over the Rangers Blue. Other standouts include Luken Baker, Brycen Mautz, and Kenly Hunter.

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were pounded by the Durham Bulls in a 15-6 blowout on Tuesday, the first game in the second half of the season.
Starter Quinn Mathews had a rough night on the mound. The left-hander pitched 1 ⅓ innings and gave up five runs on two hits, six walks, and just one strikeout. Mathews took the loss.
Michael Gomez relieved Mathews and surrendered five runs in 2 ⅔ innings. Zack Weiss yielded three runs in the fifth. Ryan Fernandez hurled two scoreless innings. Oddanier Mosqueda allowed two runs in ⅔ of an inning. Leonardo Taveras recorded the final out of the eighth.
Durham took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They added five runs in the second to lead 6-0. Memphis scored their first run in the third to cut the lead to 6-1.
José Fermín singled. Jimmy Crooks singled. Matt Koperniak singled. Fermín scored on a sacrifice fly by Luken Baker.
The Bulls continued to run up the score with four runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 10-1. Memphis added two runs in the top of the fifth to shrink the lead to 10-3.
Koperniak reached on an error. Baker doubled to plate Koperniak.

César Prieto drove in Baker with a single.
Durham responded with three runs in the home half of the fifth to widen the lead to 13-3. The Redbirds rallied for three runs in the seventh to make it 13-6. Koperniak walked. Baker walked. Bryan Torres singled to load the bases. Mike Antico took a bases-loaded walk, the third free pass of the inning, to force Koperniak home.
The Bulls posted two more runs in the eighth to win 15-6.
Memphis scored six runs on seven hits. Baker was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
On the bases, Michael Siani stole two bases to increase his season total to 10. Torres stole his 12th and 13th base on the year. Fermín swiped his 19th bag. Antico snagged his 12th base.
On defense, second baseman Torres made a throwing error.
Memphis is 41-33 overall, and 0-1 in the second half.
Wednesday’s game: at Durham, TBD vs. TBD. 6:05 CT.
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were blanked by the Wichita Wind Surge in the first game of the second half of the season on Tuesday.
Starter Brycen Mautz pitched six innings and allowed two runs on six hits, three walks, and four strikeouts. Mautz took the loss.
Jack Ralston relieved Mautz and surrendered one run in the seventh. Osvaldo Berrios tossed a scoreless eighth.
Wichita went up 1-0 in the second inning. They added one run apiece in the sixth and seventh to win 3-0.
Springfield scattered five hits. Jeremy Rivas was 2-for-4, with the lone Cardinals extra-base hit, a double. The offense was 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
On the bases, Rivas was picked off first base, and caught stealing second base. The Cardinals did not commit an error on defense.
Springfield is 43-27 overall, and 0-1 in the second half.
Wednesday’s game: at Wichita, Ixan Henderson LHP (3-3, 2.07) vs. John Klein RHP (4-4, 3.23) 7:05 CT.
The High-A Peoria Chiefs fell to the Beloit Sky Carp in a 7-3 contest at Dozer Park on Tuesday.
Starter Gerado Salas pitched four innings and allowed five runs on six hits, three strikeouts, and one walk. Salas took the loss.
Tanner Jacobson relieved Salas and surrendered one run in the fifth. Darlin Saladin yielded one run in the final four innings.
Beloit scored first with one run in the top of the second inning. They added four runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth to lead 6-0.
Peoria scored two runs in the home half of the fifth to cut the lead to 6-2. Jon Jon Gazdar and Travis Honeyman each singled to start the inning. Ian Petrutz singled to score Gazdar, with Honeyman out at third base on the play.
Petrutz scored on a single by Ryan Campos, the fourth consecutive single in the inning.
The Sky Carp made it 7-2 in the seventh. The Chiefs scored their third and last run in the ninth.
Zach Levenson singled. Brayden Jobert singled. Michael Curialle walked. Levenson came home on a double play by Gazdar.
Peoria scored three runs on 12 hits. Campos was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Petrutz was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Levenson and Jobert were each 2-for-4.
On defense, pitcher Jacobson picked a runner off first base. Pitcher Saladin picked a runner off first base, and another runner off second base.
Peoria is 27-42 overall, 1-3 in the second half, and tied with Cedar Rapids and Wisconsin for last place in the Midwest League West Division.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Beloit, Cade Winquest RHP (1-5, 4.24) vs. TBD (BEL) 12:05 CT.
The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals fell to the Daytona Tortugas in a 6-3 contest on Tuesday.
Starter Brandt Thompson pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up three runs on six hits, struck out three, and walked two. Thompson took the loss.
Angel Cuenca relieved Thompson and surrendered two runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief. Sam Brodersen yielded one unearned run in the eighth.
Daytona took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. The Beach Birds put up two runs in the fifth to take a 2-1 lead.
Anyelo Encarnacion singled. Bryce Madron singled. Encarnacion was caught stealing third base. Raniel Rodriguez singled home Madron. Deniel Ortiz plated Rodriguez with a double.
Daytona posted a two-run sixth to lead 3-2. They added two runs in the seventh to extend the lead to 5-2.
Palm Beach answered with one run in the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 5-3.
Ortiz singled. Luis Pino walked. Cade McGee grounded into a force out, with Ortiz home on the play.
The Tortugas added a sixth run in the home half of the eighth. The Cardinals failed to respond.
Palm Beach scored three runs on six hits. Ortiz was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
On the bases, McGee stole his 14th base of the season. Pino swiped his fifth bag. Encarnacion was picked off second base, and caught stealing third base.
On defense, catcher Rodriguez made a throwing error, and picked a runner off first base.
Palm Beach is 32-37 overall, 0-4 in the second half, and resides in last place in the Florida State League East Division, four games back of St. Lucie.
Wednesday’s game: at Daytona, TBD (PB) vs. Edgar Colon RHP (0-3, 4.88) 5:35 CT.
FCL Nationals 5 at FCL Nationals 4 (9 innings)
The Florida Complex League Cardinals edged the Nationals by the score of 5-4 on Tuesday.
Starter Bernard Mack pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings, allowed three hits, fanned five and walked one.
Andrew Bolivar relieved Mack and surrendered four runs, three earned, in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Alan Reyes threw two scoreless innings to earn the win. Jovi Galvez tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his first save of the season, and the second of his career.
The Cardinals put up a four-run third inning to lead 4-0.
Hancel Almonte was hit by a pitch. Christian Martin walked. Almonte scored on a throwing error on a pickoff attempt. Jose Cordoba singled to plate Martin. Heriberto Caraballo drove in Cordoba on a double.
Caraballo scored on a double by Facundo Velazquez.
The Nationals came back to tie the game in the seventh with a four run frame. In the ninth, the Cardinals scored a run to win the game 5-4.
Velasquez started the inning at second base. Yancel Guerrero singled to score Velasquez.
The Cardinals scored five runs on 10 hits. Guerrero was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Caraballo and Velasquez each doubled, scored a run, and drove in a run. Paulo Asprilla was 2-for-4.
On the bases, Guerrero was picked off first base.
On defense, shortstop Yairo Padilla made two throwing errors.
The Cardinals are 15-17 on the season, and reside in third place in the Florida Complex League East Division, five games back of the FCL Astros.

DSL Cardinals 14, DSL Rangers Blue 8 (completion of June 16 game)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals defeated the Rangers Blue in a 14-8 slugfest on Tuesday.
Starter Juan Garcia pitched 3 2/3 innings, gave up one run on three hits, and fanned six.
Reiner Lopez relieved Garcia and surrendered three runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win. Brailyn Paulino yielded four runs in 1 2/3 innings. Ryan Rodriguez secured the final out of the ninth.
The Cardinals pounced early for a five-run bottom of the first inning.
Kenly Hunter reached on an error. Miguel Hernandez singled. Yaxson Lucena reached base on a fielder’s choice, with Hunter scoring on the play. Edward Guribe plated Hernandez on a single.
Lucena scored on a throwing error during a pickoff attempt. Cristofer Lebron walked. Runners advanced on a throwing error via a pickoff attempt. Guribe scored on a groundout by Brayan Amoroso. Jhonny Chaparro drove in Lebron with a single.
The Rangers Blue cut the lead to 5-1 in the top of the second. The Cardinals answered with two runs in the home half of the second to increase the lead to 7-1.
Hernandez singled. Lucena followed with a two run home run.
The Cardinals added to the lead with three runs in the fourth.
Guribe singled, and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Lebron walked. Lebron and Guribe advanced to second base and third base, respectively, on a wild pitch. Amoroso walked to load the bags. Guribe came home on a wild pitch, with Lebron and Amoroso moving up a base on the play. Lebron scored on a groundout by Jesus Perez. Hunter plated Amoroso on a single.
The Rangers Blue scored a run in the fifth, and added two runs in the top of the seventh to shrink the lead to 10-4.
The Cardinals widened the lead in the home half of the seventh with a four run frame to extend the lead to 14-4.
Guribe was hit by a pitch. Lebron and Perez walked to load the bases. Chaparro tripled to clear the bases.
Yeferson Portolatin walked. Hunter grounded into a double play, with Chaparro home on the play.
The Rangers Blue rallied for a run in the eighth, and three in the ninth to bring the final score to 14-8.
The Cardinals scored 14 runs on 12 hits. Chaparro was 2-for-2 with four RBI. Hunter was 3-for-6 with two RBI. Guribe was 2-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. Lucena tallied three RBI and two runs scored. Hernandez was 2-for-6, with two runs scored. Lebron scored three runs.
On the bases, Hernandez was picked off first base.
On defense, catcher Chaparro was charged with a passed ball.
DSL Cardinals 8 at DSL Rangers Blue 3 (7 innings)
The DSL Cardinals bested the Rangers Blue in a seven-inning contest to earn their second win of the day on Tuesday.
Starter Gabriel Chinchilla tossed four innings and allowed two runs on three hits, two walks, and five strikeouts.
Beiker Rodriguez relieved Chinchilla and surrendered one run across two innings to earn the win. Pedro Olivero tossed a scoreless seventh.
The Cardinals took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third.
Michael Cordero doubled, and Sebastian Dos Santos followed with a double to score Cordero.
Yeferson Portolatin plated Dos Santos on a single. Portolatin stole second, and advanced to third on an error. Juan Rujano drove in Portolatin with a single.
The Rangers Blue answered with two runs in the home half of the third to cut the lead to 3-2. The Cardinals added two runs in the fourth to increase the lead to 5-2.
Cristofer Lebron hit a solo home run, his second long ball of the season.
Brayan Amoroso reached on an error. Cordero singled. Kenly Hunter drove in Amoroso on a single.
The Cardinals widened the lead with a run in the fifth to make it 6-2.
Rujano was hit by a pitch. Lebron singled. Juan Pablo Cabrera drew a walk. Rujano scored on a sac fly by Amoroso.
The Cardinals scored two runs in the sixth to lead 8-2.
Hunter was hit by a pitch. Portolatin walked. Rujano walked. Yaxson Lucena plated Hunter and Portolatin on a single.
The Rangers Blue scored one run in the seventh for the final score of 8-3.
The Cardinals scored eight runs on 10 hits. Lebron was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Cordero was 2-for-4. Lucena had two RBI. Portolatin scored two runs.
On the bases, Portolatin stole his eighth base of the season. The Cardinals did not commit an error on defense.
The DSL Cardinals are 10-7 on the season. They are off on Wednesday, and will play a road contest with the DSL Twins on Thursday.
