RHP Erick Fedde (3-3, 3.77) vs. RHP Charlie Morton (0-7, 7.68)
FanDuel // KMOXMay 24, 2025 at 8:34 pm #283182Next time we play this Baltimore club in St. Louis, the teams need to do a special promo honoring the St. Louis Browns. The Orioles should wear Browns uni’s, and we should have a pregame tribute to their ancestors that played in St. Louis until moving to Baltimore in 1954.
Maybe have both clubs wear 1944 replica uniforms.
May 24, 2025 at 8:51 pm #283185Maybe the Cardinal manager could do his best impression of Earl Weaver telling Bill Haller what his purpose in life really was…
May 25, 2025 at 4:41 pm #283230Will the fireworks get started shortly after this game commences? The 41 year old Charlie Morton is on the mound and he has been down right horrible this year with a 7.68 ERA.
May 25, 2025 at 10:34 pm #283240There’s been quite a few bright spots lately and one of those spots has emerged on Walker’s bat. He’s 7 for 17 in his last 7 games and has begun to make some key contributions to the offensive production of the lineup. If he can display a reasonable degree of consistency, it’ll obviously go a long way towards the success of this team in regards to generating runs. In any case, I always have to remind myself that he’s just barely 23 years old and is still in the process of cutting his teeth in the Big Leagues. But he’s a big kid who, at times, has looked as though he could be a first rate hitter who generates a substantial amount of power.
May 25, 2025 at 10:45 pm #283241Herrera’s tied in second place for the team lead with 25 RBI’s. Those RBI’s have come in 69 AB’s…Yeah, 25 RBI’s in 69 AB’s. He must think he’s Hack Wilson…Haha!

ParticipantRegarding Herrera: “if you can hit, they’ll find a spot for you”. Herrera needs to be in the batting order everyday whether it be as C or DH.
May 26, 2025 at 8:47 am #283250Hopefully more DH than C.
May 26, 2025 at 9:03 am #283251Gorman seems to be the odd man out at the moment as far as playing time goes. Can they ship him back to Memphis or is that no longer an option? (Pun intended)
Contreras comes back today and that puts Burleson back on the bench.
I hate to say we have a surplus of players at certain positions because as soon as they trade away the ‘surplus’ the injury bug will hit hard.
May 26, 2025 at 9:03 am #283252On another note, when does the AAA portion of the Cubs season end??
May 26, 2025 at 10:21 am #283254I happened to see an item the other day that claimed if the Cardinals were buyers at the deadline they’d offer up Gorman in return for a player to bolster any perceived weaknesses.
May 26, 2025 at 10:35 am #283255
jj-cf-stlParticipantIn the past 7 days, Walker has had 14 PA’s and is our only player w/a 4-digit ops. Good week.
May 26, 2025 at 10:39 am #283256Gorman IS the perceived weakness.
I’d offer him up for a bag of BP balls.
May 26, 2025 at 11:55 am #283258We spanked these Birds of a different color 3 straight games last season. Let us not forget for a second that the retched stench of that drubbing is not presently boiling in the nostrils of most of these Baltimorians. This series is not to be taken lightly. At the risk of coming across cocky, I rarely miss on predicted outcomes of baseball games. This is definitely a game today that we should win……..but unfortunately we won’t. Let’s call it 7-4 Birds……the black & orange ones. Oh how I wish I was wrong today, but the odds on me missing sits only at about 14%.
What’s on the din-din docket one may ask? I’m ripping a glorious page straight out of Rat’s cookbook and opting for a Hungry Man’s turkey din-din. I’ll sprinkle in some homemade deviled eggs and then have 3 Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies at the ready to put the finishing touches on matters. You know….I may be even inspired to go out and pick myself up a box of El Presidente Real Deluxe 10×50 Cuban stoggies after my visit to Popeye’s. Also, I may even flip on over to the ROKU Channel in between games to enjoy a few episodes of the original The Addams Family.
Go Birds(the red ones)……totally shock me and make my day.

It is true that the Cubs are on a string of easy opponents but it also true that the first month of their schedule was very difficult. They have already played the Dodgers, Padres, Giants, Dbacks, Mets, and Phillies. The fact that they survived that gauntlet still in first place is worrisome. Let’s face it they are a very good team and will be difficult for the Cardinals to overcome. We may be playing for a wild card spot. We shall see.

May 26, 2025 at 1:45 pm #283263I guess Arenado is still hurting from his tumble into the seats. Assume he’s available to pinch-hit?
Just finished doing some push mowing and got cleaned up. About to have din-din. Like Pugs I am having a Hungry Man’s Turkey TV dinner, some bread & butter, potato chips, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, and a chocolate shake for dessert. All of this about the time of first pitch at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore. Then me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for the Cards/Orioles game with a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar. Then we will finish watching the Reds/Royals from Cough Man Stadium in Kansas City.
Later tonight it will be the Yankees/Angels from Anaheim. Along with a little chili for my late night snack. Plus some potato chips, another chocolate shake, and another Palma Real cigar.
Happy Holidays!

May 26, 2025 at 1:59 pm #283264It isn’t surprising Arenado isn’t in the lineup today with that fall into the stands. Rats, I’m guessing they don’t let him pinch hit and give him a full day off.
Hoping Walker can keep up the good last few games offensively with another one here.
May 26, 2025 at 2:01 pm #283265What a fall for the Orioles from back to back great years with 90+ wins. I don’t think they are quite as bad as their record indicates, but the pitching is horrible. What is funny is they had a surplus of young hitters and a weak staff and the Pirates have a surplus of young pitchers with a weak offense. They really should have lined up to work out something this fall like Bubba Chandler for Coby Mayo type trade. Sometimes GMs get so focused on not losing a trade I think they don’t consider the risk of not making a deal to shore up weaknesses while dealing from a surplus.
May 26, 2025 at 2:08 pm #283266I think they don’t consider the risk of not making a deal to shore up weaknesses while dealing from a surplus.
Agreed. Maybe the Cardinals will soon deal one of their 10 highly rated catchers in the organization for an area we are weak in.
May 26, 2025 at 2:12 pm #283267This guy Morton reminds me of Wainwright his last couple of years. Not much stuff but just trying to get by on guile and experience. The Cardinals should hang 5 runs on him today.
May 26, 2025 at 3:09 pm #283268Between Fedde throwing a lot of middle middle mistakes, the infielders throwing balls away, and Morton’s curveball looking great, this one is looking bleak. That and Dylan Carlson hitting all those middle middle pitches.
May 26, 2025 at 3:15 pm #283269
jj-cf-stlParticipantPages trying to keep us in the game.
May 26, 2025 at 3:27 pm #283270
jj-cf-stlParticipantFedde likely breaks 90 pitches soon, if not pulled.
