Pages has started the last three games, which lines up well with Pozo catching Mikolas, I hope. I’d like to see what Pozo can do with Miles pitches. What he features, how he sequences, etc.
Super happy Mikolas is starting today. That means no chance he pitches for the Saturday game I’m going to. I think it will be Sonny pitching which is nice.
Arenado doubles into CF and Gorman comes around to score. 1-0 Redbirds early. But with Mikolas pitching it could be 10-0 and I’d still worry.
I have to go and mow now. Then wash the bird sh~t off the John Deere and 4-wheeler. Then rake some gravel out of my yard. And then jog a little. I’ll miss the rest of the game.

Built on his 4seamer and slider, Miles is changing speeds well with the changeup and curves for strikes.
5 good innings from Mikolas. Please go to the pen though since Mikolas is now in third time through the order.
Miles ends the 5th at 79 pitches. He’s getting his outs by disrupting timing because he is throwing his soft pitches for strikes. He and Pozo have 4 pitches working well enough. It’s a lot for batters to deal with.
Miles soft stuff puts away the 3 batters in the 6th, set up well by Pozo.
1-0 StL6 scoreless, 89 pitches for Miles
King out for the 7th w/a 1 run lead.
Tied 1-1 on a center cut changeup for a double, followed by a single and a pitching change.
Leahy, Maton, and Helsley have been pretty good this year. The rest of our pen has been garbage. Not counting Matz. I still consider him a starter.
That 2-2 pitch looked like a bad mistake from Hernandez and Walker still missed it for the swinging K to end the threat.
I preferred Miles start the 7th, rather than use a 7th inning reliever. My best case was Mikolas, Leahy, Helsley.
Why Marmol? Why?
Just bring in Helsley at that point since he’s not been used much. 5 outs and take the chance.
Bringing in Fernandez in that spot was DUMB.
