The St. Louis Cardinals system was 1-0 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, 1B Matt Lloyd, went 3-for-4 with four RBI in Memphis’ win. Other standouts include Yohel Pozo, Jimmy Crooks and Ryan Vilade.

The Memphis Redbirds walloped the Bisons in a 13-7 blowout at AutoZone Park on Tuesday. Starter Ian Bedell struggled and left the game after 1 2/3 innings. The right hander gave up five runs on five hits, struck out one and walked three.
Zack Weiss relieved Bedell and surrendered one run in 2 1/3 innings to earn the win. Curtis Taylor threw two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one baserunner while fanning four. Nick Anderson allowed one run in two innings. Roddery Muñoz tossed a scoreless ninth.
Buffalo took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Memphis answered with five runs in the home half. Matt Koperniak singled. Jimmy Crooks drew a walk. Yohel Pozo reached via an error. César Prieto singled to plate Koperniak and Crooks. Ryan Vilade doubled and Pozo scored. Prieto and Vilade came home on a double by Matt Lloyd.

The Bisons tied the game in the top of the second. The Redbirds added a run in the bottom of the frame to regain the lead 6-5. José Fermín singled and later came home on a Crooks single.
Buffalo tied the score again in the third. In the fourth, Memphis took an 8-6 lead on a two-run home run by Pozo.

The Bisons added a run in the seventh to shrink the lead to 8-7. In the eighth, the Redbirds took a resounding lead with five runs. Koperniak and Crooks walked. Pozo singled and Koperniak scored. Crooks came home on a fielder’s choice with an error by Prieto. Matt Lloyd doubled to plate Pozo and Prieto. Bryan Torres singled. Fermín singled and Lloyd crossed the plate.
The Redbirds scored 13 runs on 18 hits. Lloyd was 3-for-4 with four RBI. Pozo was 2-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Vilade was 3-for-5 including two doubles and drove in one. Crooks was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Fermín was 2-for-6 with an RBI. Koperniak was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Torres was 3-for-4.
Fermín stole his first base of the season. Vilade was picked off and caught stealing. On defense, Prieto made a missed catch error.
The Redbirds are 2-2 on the season.
