    Regarding Game #1,

I couldn’t understand why Marmol brought in the righty Fernandez to face the lefty Rosario? The result was a game tying homerun. I said outloud when he made the change that I hope you are bringing in King and not Romero.

Instead it was the righty Fernandez. And you see what we got.

    Am I missing something here???

IMO, this is the best overall lineup the Cardinals have going, right now.

Rats I couldn’t believe he yanked Gipson at that point to bring in another rh pitcher. ML manager is a tough job. If he leaves him in and Gipson gives up the bomb we are all over him. Success is the only acceptable result. How about this. We get more than 2 runs. Bad luck added. We have the catcher on 2nd in the stupid xtra inning fiasco ml baseball has installed. We can’t pinch run for him and Winn gets a hit. Than we can’t score him from third. So lets fuggettaboutit and win this nightcap.

Shady you need to swap Noot and Goldy. Goldy is mincemeat anytime he’s behind in the count. Which is most of the time these days.

Just for the record, I would be more than happy for Goldy to make a fool out of me all night long.

Winn is so good. Massive high bb iq and unselfish. Winn-ing player.

Cardinal bats are stringing together some hits in this game. Keep the line moving boys.

Goldschmidt with the all too familiar rally killing K.

Burly might get to 100 RBIs this season hitting right behind Winn.

A bomb by Ozuna. 5-2 after four innings now.

We better get some more runs because I do not believe five runs will be enough in this one.

Think I would bring Sonny back for the eighth.

Odd choice for the 8th going with Leahy.

Nothing like living on the edge. Good for Leahy (and Oli).

Well-like pulling teeth but we got to Helsley. Now what??? Rested or rusty.

Leahy pitches around the one out double. Like what I have seen from him.

    Thought Goldy had one there.

Painful to see the venerable Paul Goldschmidt struggling.

Huge hit for Donovan. Maybe use King rather than Helsley – or keep Leahy out there.

Marmol has been leaning on his young relief pitchers. It doesn’t always work, but it seems to be a thing he’s doing. Maybe because he is not so impressed with the other ones.

Great job by Leahy, and the offense for tacking on some runs late to make it easier.

No shame in a split with the Braves on the road. Gray works 7 IP’ed allowing 5 ER’s on 8 hits to earn the winning decision in the nightcap, while Gibson works 6.2 IP’ed and allows 1 ER on 3 hits in the opener and walks away with a no decision. Life ain’t always fair.

I think Leahy has earned some trust. Plus, it’s nice to lean on a guy who’s not going to be there tomorrow so we keep other guys fresh for tomorrow. Because our starters ate some innings, Ollie should have a full bullpen to play with tomorrow despite the double header. The Braves will too, but they will have a lot of guys that will be on back-to-back days which generally lessens their effectiveness. Roycroft and Kittredge are our only guys that would be on back-to-back days.
