All of these players coming over to MLB from Japan and the KBO. What kind of salaries do they get over there? Is it not anywhere near what MLB players make? Why do the best players over there seemingly want to jump to MLB? Is it the loot or something else?

p.s. din din today (Wednesday) will be the weekly trip to the Gasthof, the Amish restaurant. Fried chicken, roast beef, fish, noodles, green beans, mashed potatoes/gravy, dressing, some cherry cobbler, vanilla soft serve ice cream, and some sweet iced tea.
Of course it is money. The highest paid NPB player makes $7.5 million. Ohtani’s new deal is almost 10 times that. A secondary reason may be to compete against the best, but as Lance Berkman once said, “it is always about the money”.
