The Scottsdale Scorpions defeated the Mesa Solar Sox on Tuesday as three Cardinals played. TCN Player of the Day Jimmy Crooks singled, walked and drove in one. Victor Scott doubled and scored and Tekoah Roby allowed two runs in three innings.

Three St. Louis Cardinals saw action in Tuesday’s home win for Scottsdale. Two were in the starting lineup, Victor Scott and Jimmy Crooks. The starting pitcher was Tekoah Roby.
Center fielder Scott led off. He went 1-for-5 with a run scored. Scott flied out to left in the first inning and grounded out to second in the second inning, In the fourth, Scott doubled to left and crossed the plate on a home run. He flied out to left in the sixth. In the eighth, Scott reached on an error as a run scored.
Crooks hit fourth as the designated hitter, going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. In the first inning, he singled to left and drove in a run. Crooks grounded out to second in the third and grounded out to first in the fourth inning. He drew a walk in the seventh but was stranded.
Roby started the game on the mound. The right-hander pitched three innings and gave up two runs on three hits, struck out six and walked one. 36 of his 57 pitches went for strikes.
Roby struck out the side in the first inning. In the second inning, he gave up a leadoff double followed by a walk. Both runners scored on a double. Roby retired the final three hitters on two strikeouts and a ground out. In his final inning, the right hander yielded a single, but followed with a strikeout and two ground outs.
Scottsdale is 8-5 on the season.
