Against the Surprise Saguaros on Friday, the Scottsdale Scorpions took their first loss. Five Cardinals appeared. Victor Scott went 3-for-4 with a walk, a steal and run scored. Jeremy Rivas and Jimmy Crooks were also in the starting lineup. Cooper Hjerpe and Inohan Paniagua pitched in relief.

Scottsdale Scorpions 6, Surprise Saguaros 9
Five Cardinals saw action against the Saguaros Friday. Three were in the starting lineup and two pitched in relief.
Victor Scott led off and played in center field. Scott was 3-for-4 and scored a run. The left-handed hitter laid down a bunt single in the first inning. The speedster followed up with a single to the shortstop in the second. Scott later stole third base (his third in the AFL) and scored. In the fourth, he grounded out to first. The center fielder drew a walk in the sixth but was left stranded. Scott hit another bunt single in the eighth and again was stranded. In the early going, Scott is batting .313.

Jimmy Crooks was the designated hitter and hit fourth, going 0-for-4. He grounded into a force out in the first. In the second, he grounded out to first base. Crooks was hit by a pitch in the fifth. In the sixth, he lined out to short. Crooks struck out swinging in the ninth.
Jeremy Rivas hit seventh in the lineup and played shortstop. He was 1-for-4 with a run scored. The shortstop struck out in the first inning. Rivas grounded out to second base in the third. He singled to right field in the sixth and later came home on a sac fly. In the seventh, Rivas struck out.
Cooper Hjerpe threw a scoreless fourth inning. He struck out two, hit a batter, induced a fly out to center, and issued a free pass.
Inohan Paniagua pitched the sixth and seventh. He struck out two, walked one, and gave up three runs on three hits, which included two home runs.
Scottsdale is 3-1 on the season.
