In the AFL season opener, the Scottsdale Scorpions tied the Peoria Javelinas in extra innings. Cardinals prospects Victor Scott, Jeremy Rivas and Edwin Nunez appeared for the Scorpions. Rivas had two singles and an RBI. Scott stole a base and recorded an outfield assist.

Scottsdale 10, Peoria 10 (10 innings)
The Scottsdale Scorpions (0-0) and Peoria Javelinas (0-0) season opener ended in a 10-10 tie in the 10th inning. Three Cardinals played in the evening contest at Scottsdale Stadium.
As the leadoff batter, Victor Scott went 0-for-6 with an RBI in his AFL debut. TCN’s no. 11 prospect contributed in a seven-run rally in the seventh inning with an RBI groundout. After he grounded into a forceout in the 10th inning, the center fielder stole second base. In the field, Scott threw a runner out at second.
Number eight hitter Jeremy Rivas recorded two hits, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. The shortstop started the 10th inning rally after he grounded out to make the score 10-9.
Edwin Nunez pitched the eighth inning but had a rough AFL debut. TCN’s no. 25 prospect blew the save with two runs given up on two hits, one walk and one strikeout. Nunez had two bases stolen on him and hit a batter, but he was rescued when Scott recorded an outfield assist to end the eighth inning.
The Scorpions went 5-for-14 with runners in scoring positions in the 10-inning draw on Monday. Scott had the only Scottsdale stolen base while Peoria stole seven bags.
