It looks like there might be a slight chance of rain in the St. Louis area. Hopefully this one gets played as me and Whitey Herdog are looking forward to sitting on the couch with a couple of 7×50 Palma Real cigars during the game. If it’s rained out then I will have to suffer through listening to John Sadak on the Reds broadcast tonight. That’s enough to torture anyone.

Well, jeepers. You can tell we are hopeless this year. Here we are less than two hours from game time and there’s no action on this here game thread.

I guess it’s the ripple effect. I wonder what lies ahead the next few years in St. Louis and on this Forum?

The towel has been thrown in on the year by all concerned.

Things will pick back up when Johnny Mo starts wheeling and dealing this winter.

    Mo coming back 100%

    Marmol coming back 100%

    Winn is looking sus

We pretty much know what we have with everyone else on the current roster

I guess we can root for #200 for Wainwright but other than that…..zero buzz around the St. Louis Stand Pats…..

    Updating the Saturday out-of-town scoreboard:

Miami leads the Braves 11-5 in the last of the 8th at Joe Robbie Stadium.

Funny – the Cubs, Marlins, Reds, DBacks, and Giants all fighting for two wild card spots.

Q can’t expect too many chances. Its too bad he couldn’t at least put it in play with two on, two outs in the second.

The new clean cut look Mikolas is worse than than the old cool looking dude. If you are going to be lousy, might as well look cool.

Maybe Mikolas’s age 35 season next year will be better than his age 34 season has been. That sounds like its probably part of Mo’s plan for next year.

Surprised Burleson has a -1.1 WAR. He had not been good by any means, but would have guessed he has done enough to break even. Walker with nice offensive numbers for a kid so young and moving up fast. If he can take a couple of steps forward on defense next year he will be a force.

I haven’t really stopped being on here because of the record. I guess it would seem that way. Lots of factors. Mostly being, we have our you g grandson a lot and I spend much time just being around him and watching him grow. As he gets older and as he gets more independent, maybe things will change. Also some games being on different channels has really bugged me. I also have other interest which because of my grandson has narrowed my time down even more. Lastly the record has played a part but more because of how this team has been ran moreso than record. I felt ownership didn’t do a good job last off-season and so far Mo isn’t giving me any confidence next year will be better.

He’s bad defensively and has a .679 OPS.

Richie Palacios has a higher WAR than both Walker & Winn.

Well, Winn went 2-3 with a walk and got his OPS up to .453…

    One idle observation.
With the Cards down just 2-1, the Phils had two men on for Kyle Schwarber. The count ran to 2-2, then Mikolas made a beautiful pitch that nestled snugly within the bottom portion of the strikezone. Schwarber took the pitch. The entire baseball was within the TV strikezone box.

But Mr. Contreras received the ball while awkwardly swooping downward, finishing with his mitt actually scraping the dirt. The pitch had no chance to be called strike three. The inevitable followed.

The next pitch to Schwarber was hammered for the 3-run homer than effectively ended the game.
    That’s the 2023 Cardinals.
    That’s Willson Contreras.

Bob, if that sort of thing mattered to Mo and The Gang, Contreras wouldn’t have been hired in the first place. Willson had been around long enough to be a known quantity. The algo factors in certain things and what it doesn’t factor in doesn’t exist. We know that by now. So Willson is doing great. Marmol is doing great. We just need some depth guys on the pitching side and a couple more polo shirts and gun groupies.
