The St. Louis Cardinals system was 3-1 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Pete Hansen, pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in Palm Beach’s win. Other standouts include Graysen Tarlow, Thomas Saggese and Edgar Manzo.

On Wednesday, the Memphis Redbirds fell in Nashville by three runs. Starter Jake Woodford pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up one run on two hits, struck out six and walked two.
Chris Roycroft relieved Woodford and struggled, surrendering three runs, one earned in 1/3 of an inning. Grant Black threw a scoreless sixth. Rehabbing pitcher Wilking Rodriguez hurled a scoreless seventh. Dalton Roach tossed a scoreless eighth.
Memphis scored first with one run in the top of the fifth. Nick Dunn singled and later came home on a single by Juniel Querecuto.
Nashville answered with two in the home fifth and two more in the sixth for a 4-1 lead.
The Memphis offense scored one run on just three hits. No Redbird had multiple hits. The offense was 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.
In the field, César Prieto had a missed catch error.
The Memphis Redbirds (25-34) are 12 games out of first place in the International League West.
Thursday’s games: at Nashville, RHP Adam Kloffenstein (2-0, 2.63 with Mem) vs. Robert Gasser LHP (9-1, 3.73) 6:35 CT.
The Springfield Cardinals defeated the Drillers by the score of 5-2 at Hammons Field on Wednesday. Starter Tink Hence pitched four innings, gave up one run on five hits and struck out five.
Nick Trogrlic-Iverson threw three scoreless innings of relief and received the win. Roy Garcia surrendered one run in 2/3 of an inning. Matt Svanson tossed the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his fourth save.
Tulsa took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Springfield went up in the third on a three-run home run by Thomas Saggese.

The Cardinals made it 5-1 in the sixth. Chandler Redmond and Pedro Pages singled. Both were driven in on a single by Aaron Antonini.
The Drillers scored their final run in the eighth.
Saggese was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Antonini had two RBI.
On the base paths, Saggese stole his 11th base. Antonini was picked off and caught stealing.
In the Texas League North, the Springfield Cardinals (31-28) are in second place, 1.5 games out of first.
Thursday’s game: vs. Tulsa, Tekoah Roby RHP (2-3, 4.82) vs. River Ryan RHP (1-6, 3.51) 6:35 CT.
Clinching a playoff berth, the Chiefs blanked the Sky Carp 3-0 on Wednesday at Dozer Park. Starter Edgar Manzo pitched five scoreless innings, allowed two hits and struck out three to earn his fourth win.
Andrew Marrero threw two scoreless innings of relief. Edwin Nunez tossed the final two scoreless innings for his fifth save.
Peoria went up 1-0 in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Alex ladisernia. The Chiefs added two runs in the fifth. Thomas Francisco walked. Darlin Moquete singled. R.J. Yeager grounded into a force out, eliminating Moquete. Francisco and Yeager came home on a single by Jimmy Crooks.

The Peoria offense scored three runs on six hits. No Chief had multiple hits. Crooks had two RBI.
On the base paths, Yeager stole his 12th base. Jeremy Rivas was caught stealing. In the field, Crooks made a throwing error. Brody Moore had a fielding miscue.
In the Midwest League West, the Chiefs (36-26) are in second place, four games ahead of third. They have clinched the second-place spot and with it a playoff spot because the first place Cedar Rapids Kernels won the division in the first half.

Thursday’s games: vs. Beloit, Zane Mills RHP (7-5, 5.19) vs. Gabe Bierman RHP (4-4, 3.56) 6:35 CT.
The Palm Beach Cardinals thrashed the Threshers in a 10-3 contest at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches on Wednesday. Starter Pete Hansen pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings, allowed four hits, struck out seven and walked two to earn his system-best 11th win of the season.
Angel Cuenca relieved Hansen and surrendered one run in 1 1/3 innings. Henry Gomez relinquished two runs in the final two innings.
The Beach Birds took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Chase Davis singled. Joshua Baez reached on an error. Davis and Baez by a single from Brayden Jobert.
Palm Beach extended the lead to 4-0 in the third. Tre Richardson doubled and scored on a single by Zach Levenson. Levenson later came home on a wild pitch.
The Cardinals added four runs in the fourth to lead 8-0. Graysen Tarlow hit a two-run home run. Lizandro Espinoza walked and was driven by Won-Bin Cho’s triple. Cho scored on a sac fly by Richardson.
In the seventh, Clearwater cut the lead to 8-1. Palm Beach scored two runs in the home seventh to widen the lead to 10-1. Davis and Joshua Baez walked and scored on a single by Tarlow.
The Threshers added two in the ninth to shrink the lead to 10-3.
Tarlow was 2-for-4 with four RBI. Cho was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Davis was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Jobert had two RBI.
On the base paths, Davis stole two bases. Jobert was caught stealing.
The Palm Beach Cardinals (26-33) are in second place in the Florida State League East but clinched a playoff spot in the first half. Jupiter (MIA) has won the second half and will be the Beach Birds’ first-round playoff opponent.
