    Mo –

Please, please get rid of the following guys on the 40 man.

    Lawrence
    Leahy
    Naile
    Suarez
    VerHagen
    Zuniga
    Motter
    Palacious

IMHO, they should never be allowed to wear a Cardinals major league uniform.

If you mean to let them go at the end of the season, I’m mostly in agreement. They need some guys to fill in in the big leagues now and I’d rather not add anyone to the 40-man who would otherwise not need to be protected in the Rule 5 this offseason. So I don’t have much trouble with any of these guys being on the roster just now.

The one exception I’d make is Zuniga. Terrible overall results, but 36 K’s in 28.2 IP at Memphis makes me think there’s some potential there. He’s only 24 and this is his first AAA season. I’d be inclined to hang on to him.

Yes, assuming they would be replaced with upgrades. Others maybe along those lines Firmin and Naughton. I would also risk passing Wilking through waivers, but hope to hold on to him until we see what he’s got post injury, depending on the particulars of that, which we don’t know.

An issue Mo faces is he has to not only upgrade the ML roster, but the depth behind it at AAA – and the depth behind that at AA 🙁

I understand young guys who need to be protected, but guys who are in their late 20s or early 30s, and who have literally had no success at all at the major league level seem like a pure waste.

There are going to be depth AAAA and fringe types available all the way up to opening day. But hopefully Mo will be active early to get better quality rather than warm bodies. The thing is, those guys will be looking for the best position to get into in the early going, and will only take what they can get late, so that complicates things

Why isn’t Woodford in the roster..?
Had a bad start to the season, Luke almost everyone else, but was pitching much better including the London series.

Woodford is on the 15 man IL but is on the 40 man roster.

Not sure why we need two separate 40 man threads plus a roster matrix thread but oh well.

Mo is a purveyor of waste. As noted above, his work has impacted the depths of the org — and player personnel is not the primary issue. It’s leadership, coaching, and admin. The 40-man is really just the symptom and is a misguided target for any meaningful cleansing.

Anyone lamenting how bad the major league team is can quickly find solace…they’re not bad at all, when compared to either the Catds complex league or DSL teams!! Those two squads need to get a lot better to be considered merely terrible!! In many games, they get less than 5 hits & frequently have more errors than hits. To say that Mo has overseen a complete & total organizational failure this year is not overstating things…

For those fans like me who wish to find glimmers of hope at the lower levels of the system (i.e. dreaming on some teenage prodigy to someday save the Cards), there’s nothing to be found. I guess I need to get my Victor Scott jersey now, as he represents the only exciting player in the system-wuth Winn promoted.

The best way to slow duplicate threads down is to not reply to them. If I catch them early enough, I can redirect the discussion to the existing thread. Too late for this one…
