Let the auditions continue Liberatore now has ‘Bust’ pencilled in by his name – I am starting to search for the ink pen.

Goldschmidt had two clutch situations late in the game last night. Once in the 7th with two outs and once with two outs in the 9th. We got a little weak ground ball and a strikeout looking.

Makes me wonder since he turns 36 in just a few weeks.

Thar’s why I say trade Goldschmidt this winter. Put him along with Gorman, Carlson and Donovan and who knows what you might be able to get

Its good going with a starter with ERA less than 4.

It has been apparent that Goldy is having trouble catching up to fastballs, but nobody liked the idea of trading him at the deadline. We probably missed the chance to maximize the return and we are probably going to ride it on down. The decline in production has been steadily downward all season, one month to the next, so concern about next season is not unreasonable.

Turning around to watch O’Niel at second before he crossed home plate at a trot really bothered me last night. I imagine him too. Definitely had 2 big payday moments blown at the plate. The Mets closer did have some crazy movement on the ball in the 9th. He was good. At least he touched the ball in the 7th. Missing some players right now. Pitching wise its gonna be rough to be a Cardinal till it changes.Feel like the 3 guys in the stands banging on the drum in the movie “Major League”?

Maybe Paulie is just tired. I mean this is a season to forget. He did fade a bit at the end of the season last year and people complained.

Also consider his numbers taking a hit from being in the 2 hole all season.

He wasn’t going to replicate last years number. He’s going to fade a bit. Gone are the days of a .900 ops but that’s still a 3 war player you’re throwing out there and they could also get value from a trade next season. Maybe not as good as this year but you can get something still from his worst ops+ season since 2019.

Din-din today was the bi-weekly trip out to the Amish restaurant that sits on the lake, north of town. Catfish fiddlers, meatloaf, mashes potatoes/gravy, dressing noodles, sweet tea, a piece of Red Velvet cake and some vanilla soft serve ice cream. Yum yum. But I have a tummy ache now…..

Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for Mr. Winn’s MLB debut. Along with a couple of Palma Real 7 1/2×50 Presidente cigars. And some bar-b-q wings for our late night snack. Then tune in to the Miami and Dodgers game later tonight to see if the Doyers can make it 12 wins in a row!

With three of my five untouchables on the IL, Donovan, Gorman and Noot; we are relying on our righty bats, and it doesn’t feel encouraging.

Well, I see that the Redbird manager has decided to extract Motter from SS and that the youngster’s situated over there tonight at the SS position instead. He may well pan out to be a good Big League ballplayer, but he’ll never be another Manny Motter.

The hurricane that’s approaching southern California has forced MLB to cancel the Dodgers, Angels, and Padres games on Sunday. They will now be playing a day/nite doubleheader on Saturday.

They say it’s going to be a Category 4 when it hits. Imagine that. In southern California of all places.

I hung in here for Winn’s debut PA, so I’ll check the box score in the morning for the rest.

I’m only watching now to see if they drill Alonzo for throwing Winn’s first hit into the stands. I hope they do.

    Did they?

I know they didn’t his first atbat but after it got out of hand I turned it over to the Miami and Dodgers game. Both teams hit leadoff homeruns in this one as well. Soler for the Braves and Betts for the Doyers.

No Naile can’t keep people off the bases too get an opportunity to do it. But they probably won’t anyway. Can’t police yourself anymore.

I don’t think Winn can save them. Should’ve had Manny at SS.

I see where Palocios got a hit with a runner in scoring position. Maybe the bronze busts and Faberge eggs were taking notes.

At this late point in the season, the league worst BA with the bases loaded and generally poor job of advancing runners and driving them in should be a concern. Its not a small sample any more. Mo might spend a lot of Bill’s money on pitching and we could still fail to compete if the offense is disfunctional.

It follows that even if Mo brings in a haul of pitching, exuberant expectations will have to be contained until we see if the offense is going to work better. That will be hard, but we are grown ups.

This is what our lineup looks like without Gorman, Nootbaar and Donovan. Remember that when BillyMo uses them to acquire pitching in trade.

I must be getting old. I am having trouble remembering how much better we were doing with them in the lineup.
