Per a source on twitter, Herrera was optioned, Waino activated, Suarez added to the 40 man roster, and Helsley moved to the 60-day DL to create the space for Suarez. Helsley last pitched June 7, so we’re not that far from 60 days.
Suarez last appeared in MLB in 2020. He threw 5 innings of one run ball in AAA four days ago.
I was wondering about that Bling. If Suarez has maybe 3 good relief outings this week, can he net a marginal prospect? Could be that they want someone who can provide innings tonight if Waino doesn’t get out of the first inning or two. Or both. I remember some favorable commentary about Suarez back in spring, so I’ve been hopeful that he has something to bring.
If it looks like he can throw strikes without getting his head knocked off Mo might keep him around. We desperatly need pen B teamers who can throw strikes.
