The St. Louis Cardinals system went 0-6 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Luken Baker, hit two home runs to tie for the MiLB lead in Memphis’ loss. Other standouts include Masyn Winn, Edgar Escobar, Jimmy Crooks and Leonardo Bernal.

The Memphis Redbirds (0-4) fell to the Nashville Sounds (MIL, 4-0) on Saturday night at AutoZone Park.
Michael McGreevy pitched six innings and surrendered three runs on six hits and one walk. TCN’s no. 4 prospect fanned two.
The Redbirds took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning with a Luken Baker solo home run. After the Sounds scored two in the fourth, Baker hit another solo homer in the fifth. TCN’s no. 14 prospect is now tied for first in Minor League Baseball with 22 home runs.

In relief, JoJo Romero gave up two runs in the top of the seventh inning. In the home seventh, Memphis tied the game at 5-5. Tres Barrera reached on an error, Chase Pinder singled and José Fermín was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Masyn Winn doubled to clear the bases.

The Sounds took the lead in the eighth inning. Ryan Loutos received his first Triple-A loss after he was touched for two runs in the final two innings.
Winn, Baker, Pinder and Taylor Motter all had two hits. The rest of the lineup did not record a hit. Memphis went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
In right field, Moisés Gómez threw a runner out at second base.
Sunday’s game: vs. Nashville, TBA vs. LHP Thomas Pannone 6:35 CT
The Springfield Cardinals (1-3) were edged by the Arkansas Travelers (SEA, 3-1) at Dickey-Stephens Park on Saturday.
Starter Edgar Escobar tossed 5 2/3 solid innings with one run given up. The right-hander yielded seven hits, three walks and six punchouts.
The Cardinals scored their only run in the first inning. Victor Scott II singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Chandler Redmond drove him in with a single. Noah Mendlinger doubled but Redmond was called out at the plate.
Out of the bullpen, Ryan Shreve surrendered a run in 1 1/3 innings and took his third loss. Bryan Pope pitched a scoreless frame.
Redmond and Errol Robinson recorded two hits apiece. Mendlinger had the only extra-base hit and Redmond walked. The lineup went 1-for-3 with runners in scoring position with seven hits and one walk.
Sunday’s game: at Arkansas, RHP Wilfredo Pereira (5-4, 3.79) vs. TBA 6:35 CT
Peoria 2, Cedar Rapids 3 (10 innings)
The Peoria Chiefs (4-3) were defeated by the Cedar Rapids Kernels (MIN, 5-2) in extra innings at Dozer Park.
In his second start since returning to the rotation after time on the IL, Zane Mills was charged with a run in 3 2/3 innings on five hits and two walks. The right-hander struck out four. Now working in relief, Dionys Rodriguez recorded two scoreless frames with three strikeouts. Alfredo Ruiz walked two and struck out one in 1/3 of an inning.
Cedar Rapids scored their first run in the first inning. The Chiefs did not answer until the ninth when Osvaldo Tovalin drove in a run with two out to send the game into extras. After the Kernels put up two runs in the 10th, Peoria could only record one more run with a Darlin Moquete RBI groundout.

Edgar Manzo pitched the last four innings and gave up a two-run home run in the 10th inning.
The lineup went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Jimmy Crooks went 3-for-4 and Tovalin had two hits. R.J. Yeager and Ramon Mendoza had the only other hits, both singles. The Chiefs did not record an extra-base hit.
Crooks caught two runners stealing. Cedar Rapids had two outfield assists.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (1-6) were defeated by the Jupiter Hammerheads (MIA, 4-2) on Saturday at Roger Dean Stadium.
Jose Davila took his first loss of the season after he gave up six runs, five earned, in 4 1/3 innings. The 20-year-old yielded seven hits, two walks and no strikeouts. In relief, Augusto Calderon surrendered two runs in 2 2/3 innings.
The Beach Birds scored all three runs between the fourth and fifth innings. In the fourth, Leonardo Bernal singled and Joshua Baez hit a home run, his second of the year. Bernal drove in a run in the fifth.
Henry Gomez was touched for three runs on two hits, four walks and one strikeout in one inning. Tanner Jacobson tossed a scoreless ninth.
Bernal went 3-for-4 with three singles, one RBI and a run scored. Lizandro Espinoza doubled and Baez homered. The Cardinals left seven runners on base.
On the base paths, Bernal, Baez and Won-Bin Cho all stole a base. Espinoza was picked off and caught stealing. In the field, Davila and Brandon Hernandez all committed errors.
Sunday’s game: vs. Jupiter, TBA vs. TBA 11:00 CT
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (8-9) fell to the Mets (11-7) at St. Lucie Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
In 3 1/3 innings, starter Ruben Menes yielded two runs, one earned, on three hits, two walks and three punchouts. Samuel Fabian gave up an unearned run in 1 1/3 innings. In 1 2/3 frames, John Lynch surrendered three runs, one earned, and took his first loss.
In the fourth, the Cardinals put up two runs. Luis Rodriguez doubled to score one and came across on a wild pitch to take a 2-1 lead. Two runs came across in the sixth on an error.
Ettore Giulianelli had a scoreless 2/3 of an inning. Yonael Dominguez was roughed for two runs in the eighth inning on three hits and one strikeout.
Rodriguez, Adari Grant and Jose Cordoba recorded two hits apiece. Grant doubled, walked twice and came across. After eight hits and six walks, Palm Beach went 3-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
On the bases, Cordoba stole a bag and was caught stealing. Grant was also caught stealing. Grant committed two errors and Yaisel Ramos had an outfield assist.
Monday’s game: vs. FCL Mets, TBA vs. TBA 11:00 CT (The Cardinals are off Sunday)
DSL Cardinals 6 at DSL Mariners 12
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (4-15) were behind from the start and fell to the Mariners (12-8) on Saturday.
Starter Brailyn Paulino only recorded one out and surrendered six runs. Kener Perez was charged with three runs in 1 2/3 innings on three hits, three walks and three punchouts. Jarol Baez tossed two scoreless frames with three strikeouts.
The Mariners put up a total of nine runs in the first inning. In the fifth, Daniel Rojas singled to plate one. The Cardinals scored five runs in the seventh. Rojas recorded a double and scored two. Hancel Almonte blasted a three-run home run to make the score 9-6.
Juan Severino pitched three scoreless innings with five strikeouts. In 1/3 of an inning, Jovi Galvez yielded three runs on four walks and a strikeout. Yordy Herrera recorded a scoreless 2/3 of an inning.
Rojas went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored. Almonte drove in three with a home run. The lineup went 3-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
In the field, Heriberto Caraballo committed an error. Almonte had an outfield assist and Herrera picked off a runner.
