The St. Louis Cardinals system went 1-4 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day Connor Lunn threw seven shutout innings for streaking Springfield. Other standouts include Arquímedes Gamboa, Luis Pino, Daniel Rojas and Facundo Velasquez.

Memphis at Jacksonville – Postponed
Due to inclement weather in the Jacksonville area, the Memphis Redbirds (34-41) and Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (MIA, 29-35) contest will be made up as a doubleheader on Friday.

The Springfield Cardinals (31-29) topped the Tulsa Drillers (LAD, 37-23) on Thursday at Hammons Field. Springfield is on a five-game winning streak, taking nine of their last 10.
Starter Connor Lunn had an amazing outing with seven scoreless innings on two hits and three walks. The right-hander fanned two and earned his second win of the season.
The Cardinals were on the board in the first inning after Pedro Pagés came across on an error. In the fourth, Arquímedes Gamboa brought in a run via sacrifice fly. Gamboa tripled in the sixth to make the score 3-0. Noah Mendlinger plated one in the seventh with a sac bunt.
In relief, Chris Roycroft was charged with one run in two innings. The right-hander yielded two hits and one walk.

Gamboa went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI. Mendlinger and Irving Lopez had the only other two hits. The lineup walked eight times, three by Chandler Redmond.
Mendlinger took his second Double-A bag. Gamboa was picked off.

The Peoria Chiefs (30-30) were edged by the Lansing Lugnuts (OAK, 27-32) at Jackson Field on Thursday night. The Chiefs six-game winning streak came to a close.
Trent Baker tossed 6 1/3 innings and surrendered four runs on five hits and two walks. TCN’s no. 26 prospect struck out three and took his fifth loss of the season.
After Lansing scored a run in the first, the Chiefs responded with a Jimmy Crooks solo home run, his fifth of 2023. Peoria took the lead in the fifth. Victor Scott II singled to bring Francisco Hernandez across.

Nathanael Heredia pitched 1 2/3 scoreless frames out of the bullpen on a hit, one walk and one strikeout.
The Lugnuts took a two-run lead in the seventh inning. In the eighth, Aaron McKeithan blasted his fifth homer of the year, a solo shot. With the tying run on third and two out in the ninth, Scott popped out and the game concluded.
Thomas Francisco recorded the only multi-hit game with two. Hernandez went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. Crooks and McKeithan both homered. The lineup went 1-for-3 with runners in scoring position and left seven runners on base.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (34-26) fell to the St. Lucie Mets (NYM, 22-37) on Thursday night at Roger Dean Stadium.
Starter Cade Winquest only faced two batters before he was taken out of the game with an injury. The right-hander was charged with a run. Augusto Calderon gave up one run on a hit, three walks and one strikeout in 2 2/3 innings.
St. Lucie scored a run in the first but the Beach Birds responded in the second. Joshua Baez blasted a two-run homer, his third of the season. After the Mets tied it in the third, Chris Rotondo brought a run across in the home half. The Mets put up three runs in the fifth.

Tanner Jacobson was charged with three runs on two hits, three walks and three punchouts in 2 1/3 innings. Joseph King yielded three runs in 2 2/3 innings. The 2022 draftee took his second loss. Henry Gomez threw a scoreless 1 1/3 innings.
In the sixth, Michael Curialle tripled to make it a one-run game. R.J. Yeager doubled in the seventh to score a run and Chris Rotondo came across on a wild pitch to take the lead. The Mets responded with a two-run homer in the eighth. In the bottom half, Lizandro Espinoza doubled to make the score 8-7.
Rotondo had the only multi-hit game with two. Espinoza went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, an RBI and two runs scored. The lineup had four extra-base hits but went 3-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
On the bases, Won-Bin Cho was caught stealing.
Friday’s game: vs. St. Lucie, RHP Max Rajcic (5-2, 1.74) vs. RHP Jordany Ventura (3-1, 5.21) 5:30 CT
FCL Cardinals 3, FCL Marlins 10
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (3-4) were walloped by the Marlins (4-4) at Roger Dean Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
Starter Gerado Salas pitched five scoreless innings with two hits yielded and two strikeouts. In relief, Diorys Guerrero only went 2/3 of an inning and surrendered five runs. Samuel Fabian tossed an inning and also gave up five runs.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. TCN’s no. 24 prospect, Luis Pino, singled and rehabbing Springfield outfielder Todd Lott walked. After a forceout and two wild pitches, Jose Suarez drove in a run.
The back end of the bullpen was solid for the Cardinals after the 10 runs were charged against Guerrero and Fabian in the sixth and seventh innings. Omar Yanez recorded 1 1/3 scoreless frames with two strikeouts. Randel Clemente threw a scoreless ninth inning.
The Cardinals added two runs in the ninth. Anyelo Encarnacion blasted a solo homer, his first of the season. Yancel Guerrero singled and Pino plated him with a double.
In his first game of 2023, Pino went 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI. The lineup went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base.
In his 10 at-bats with the FCL club on a rehab assignment from Memphis, José Fermín has gone 0-for-10 with a walk. Fellow rehabber Lott went 0-for-2 with one walk.
Salas, Samil De La Rosa and Raul Guzman committed errors. Yaisel Ramos had an outfield assist.

DSL Cardinals 11, DSL Giants Black 13
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (3-5) were defeated by the Giants Black (5-3) in a Thursday slugfest.
Starter Ronny Oliver yielded six runs in 4 1/3 innings on six hits and two walks. The right-hander struck out four and took his first loss of the year. Jose Seruiel was charged with two runs, one earned, on a hit, five walks and three strikeouts in one inning.
The Giants scored a run in the second and Facundo Velasquez doubled to tie the game. The Cardinals added four runs in the fourth. Paulo Asprilla drove in one and Daniel Rojas doubled to bring two across. Velasquez plated another run to make the score 5-1. The Giants responded with nine runs between the fifth and sixth innings.
Bernard Mack surrendered an unearned run in one inning. In 1 2/3 frames, Jefferson Moran was touched for an unearned run in his professional debut. Jarol Baez pitched the ninth inning and was charged with two runs.
After the Giants took a five-run lead in the sixth, the Cardinals responded with four runs in the home half. Arfeni Batista and Heriberto Caraballo drove in a run each. Yordalin Pena came across on an error and Fernando Roquez singled to make it a one-run game.
The San Francisco affiliate took a four-run lead in the ninth inning. In the bottom half, Pena singled to plate two runs. With the tying run at the plate and two out, Caraballo struck out and the contest concluded.
Rojas went 4-for-4 with a walk, a double, a triple, two RBI and four runs scored. Velasquez and Pena recorded three hits and two RBI apiece. The lineup had 17 hits, six walks and went 7-for-18 with runners in scoring position.
On the base paths, Yoerny Junco was caught stealing. In the field, Pena and Rojas committed errors.
