The St. Louis Cardinals system went 3-1 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Moisés Gómez, went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Memphis’ win. Other standouts include Iván Herrera, Noah Mendlinger, Roy Garcia and Won-Bin Cho.

The Memphis Redbirds (26-22), playing as the Memphis Chicks, defeated the Norfolk Tides (BAL, 33-14) on Thursday at AutoZone Park.
Michael McGreevy tossed five innings and was charged with two runs on six hits and a walk. TCN’s no. 5 prospect struck out four and earned his third win at Triple-A.
The Redbirds scored six runs in the first two innings. Moisés Gómez brought in two runs via single. Taylor Motter and Juniel Querecuto hit RBI singles to make the score 4-0. In the second, Luken Baker and Gómez each singled to plate a run apiece.
Out of the bullpen, Andrew Suárez pitched four innings and surrendered a run on four hits and one strikeout. Kodi Whitley threw a perfect ninth with one strikeout.
Memphis made the score 9-2 in the fourth inning. Jordan Walker doubled to score Iván Herrera (double) and Baker (double). Gómez blasted a solo homer in the sixth, his third in the last two games and ninth of the season.

The lineup went 8-for-14 with runners in scoring position and had five extra base hits. Gómez went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI. Herrera doubled twice and came across three times. Walker and Querecuto drove in two apiece.

Playing as the new Cashew Chickens, the Springfield Cardinals (19-23) walked off the Wichita Wind Surge (MIN, 19-22) at Hammons Field on Thursday night.
Starter Brandon Komar gave up three runs in six innings on six hits and a walk. The right-hander fanned three.
In the second, Noah Mendlinger came across on a throwing error. Wichita answered with three runs in the fourth. Mendlinger doubled to score Chandler Redmond in the sixth.
Edgar Escobar yielded an unearned run in two innings and struck out four. Andre Granillo earned his second win of the year with two strikeouts in the ninth.
Mike Antico plated one in the seventh via groundout. In the eighth, Arquímedes Gamboa grounded out to tie the game at 4-4. Nick Dunn and Redmond singled in the ninth. Mendlinger doubled to bring Dunn across and win the game.

Even though the Cardinals left 11 runners on base, they were able to win the game in the ninth. Mendlinger went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. The 22-year-old is slashing .405/.488/.595/1.083 since joining Double-A. Dunn had the only other multi-hit game with two.
Antico took his 11th bag of the season. On the mound, Komar picked off two runners.
Friday’s game: vs. Wichita, RHP Wilfredo Pereira (2-2, 3.18) vs. LHP Aaron Rozek (0-1, 6.66) 7:05 CT
The Peoria Chiefs (21-21) were edged by the Great Lakes Loons (LAD, 27-15) on Thursday at Dozer Park.
Starter Dionys Rodriguez was touched for two runs in 5 2/3 innings and took his third loss of 2023. TCN’s no. 29 prospect yielded five hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
The Chiefs brought in their only run in the seventh inning. Aaron McKeithan and Jeremy Rivas singled. Osvaldo Tovalin grounded out to make the score 2-1. With the tying run at third and two out, Thomas Francisco grounded out.
In his High-A debut, Roy Garcia pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings and gave up two hits. Matt Hickey threw a scoreless ninth inning.
In the ninth, McKeithan and Rivas walked. With one out, Tovalin grounded into a double play and the contest concluded.
Ramon Mendoza recorded the only multi-hit game with two. McKeithan and Rivas both singled and walked. The lineup had chances but went 0-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left six runners on base.
Catcher Jimmy Crooks caught two runners attempting to steal.
Friday’s game: vs. Great Lakes, LHP Alex Cornwell (4-2, 3.24) vs. RHP Jerming Rosario (0-2, 13.50) 6:35 CT
Palm Beach 6, Tampa 5 (10 innings, Game 1)
After a four-hour rain delay Thursday afternoon, the Palm Beach Cardinals (25-16) walked off the Tampa Tarpons (NYY, 15-26) at Roger Dean Stadium.
LHP Pete Hansen threw 4 1/3 innings and surrendered two runs on four hits and two walks. TCN’s no. 11 prospect fanned six batters.
After the Tarpons scored a run in the first, the Beach Birds responded in the home half. Jose Zapata plated two runs with a single. Won-Bin Cho added another run via single. In the second, Jonathan Mejia came across after R.J. Yeager grounded into a double play.
Alex Iadisernia blasted his seventh homer of the season in the fourth to make the score 5-2.
Nathanael Heredia pitched 1 2/3 perfect innings with two strikeouts. Tanner Jacobson yielded three runs in only one inning. Joseph King shut the door on Tampa with three scoreless innings and four strikeouts. The 2022 draftee earned his second win.
After the game was tied in the ninth, the contest went into extra innings. King recorded a scoreless top half. Michael Curialle moved Chris Rotondo over from second and Zapata won the game via sacrifice fly.
Cho went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Zapata scored three runs. Iadisernia recorded two hits, a homer and two walks. The lineup went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position but still found a way to win.
On the base paths, Cho took his 14th bag of the season.
Four Cardinals committed an error – Mejia, Curialle, Leonardo Bernal and Lizandro Espinoza.
Palm Beach, Tampa (Game 2) – Postponed
The Palm Beach Cardinals and Tampa Tarpons makeup game from Wednesday was postponed due to the long rain delay at Roger Dean Stadium. Weather permitting, it will be made up as a doubleheader on Friday.
