I haven’t been a fan of the Matz signing since day one but I am still pulling for the guy. We desperately need for him to step up and earn his contact. Please don’t be Brett Cecil 2.0.

How many innings or pitches can we expect out of Matz in this one? 3-4 innings? 75 pitches?

I’d like to see him go 5 innings and get the win. Probably give up at least three runs though.

So far the return on the Matz’ contract is a negative WAR. He has a terrific K/BB ratio though, which is a good sign. He just gives up too many hits.

Sounds like he is letting too many pitches find the middle of the zone. He just needs to tweak that location a bit and throw the ball a couple inches in or out, up or down.

Like Dickerson and O’Neill, he has that look of a guy who could really be strong over the second half. But the injury thing is the concern – hopefully he throws free and easy tomorrow (if he does indeed start).

It’s Saturday night and Milwaukee just balked in the go-ahead run in the last of the 8th with the bases loaded and two outs to give San Francisco a 2-1 lead heading to the 9th.

Can the Giants hang on? Adames, Tellez, and McCutchen due up in the Brewer 9th. Could we be just one game out after close of business tonight?

UPDATE: 2-1 Giants your happy final! One game out heading into this one on Sunday afternoon. Would like to see San Fran take the Sunday game and win three of four against the Brewers. That six run 9th inning on Friday night by the Giants might have demoralized Milwaukee a little.

Just checked the Doppler Radar. Looks like a lot of rain just fell on the St. Louis area. Hard to say but it appears there’s a good chance this game will be delayed. Guess we shall see.

Anybody got better weather info? If it’s delayed for awhile I can finish watching the British Open.

UPDATE: I saw the balk call on Gustave of the Brewers. Not sure I saw anything but the home plate umpire Pat Hoberg was pretty emphatic about making the call.

Here at the Bling cave 10 miles SW of Busch it has rained off and on all morning but never a hard rain. Nothing at the moment but it doesn’t matter.

Hate no game, but happy for those that actually got rain and a break from the heat even if only for a short bit. This heat sucks.

rat, willie, is that German restaurant with the Sauerbraten and schnitzels still around there, its about 10 miles off I-64? We always stopped there on trips to Louisville back in the good old days.

Blingboy, not sure which one you are talking about. There was one but it was right off of 64. Basically at the exit. It’s closed now

Bling? Are you talking about the Snitzlebank restaurant in Jasper? It’s about ten miles off of I-64.

That’s the one Rat. I couldn’t remember the name or the town, its been about 25 years now since we made the trip. They had great German food back in the 80s and 90s. I was there maybe 30 or so times over a 15 year stretch.

I get there 3-4 times a year. I usually have either their Weinerschnitzel or their Ground Sirloin. Their German fries are pretty good. So are there green beans. They are a little short on dessert, however.

The Giants lead Milwaukee 7-1 after four innings at Candlestick Park. Looks like we might be just one half game out of 1st place at the All Star Break. And this rain might have very well cost us a tie for 1st at the ASB.

Of course, the game isn’t quite over yet. Stay tuned…….

The Giants are hanging on to a 9-5 lead in the last of the 8th at Candlestick. Three outs away from being one half game out of 1st place.

And Seattle just won their 14th game in a row. You might say the All Star Break comes at a bad time for the Mariners.

I think I will cancel my PD/STLToday subscription. I can get the out of town scores that matter right here without all the filler. And PBP.

The Giants hang on for the 9-5 win over the Brewers. Cards are one half game out of 1st place at the All Star Break.

I am afraid, with a day/night DH coming up in lieu of this game, this rainout might hurt us in the long run. I would have almost bet my fortune on a Redbird victory today.
