We are 8.5 games out of first. We have 13 games left against the Crew. The first game with them is in Mid August with 10 in September By that time MM and Flare possibly could be back in the rotation. If we can take at least 9/13 from the crew.. that will give us 5 games. That leaves 56 games that we’ll need to make up the other 4 with some help of course. Can it happen? Possibly? Yes. Probably? Only if we start playing with a sense of urgency and that needs to start with Schildt. And Of course some help turns the possible into the probable.
These next 9 games are key heading into the trading deadline. If we can make make up just 1.5 games.. I think we need to go after a closer, put Reyes in middle relief.
Am I speaking as a die hard, loyal Cardinals fan ? Perhaps.. but I’ll never give up on my team with 2+ months left.
When things are not going as I’ve hoped for my beloved Cardinals … In my mind I know all the answers and I become the following
A GM
A Manager
A hitting coach
A pitching coach
A bullpen coach
A base coach
A baseball expert
A scoutFrustration, anger, disappointment sink in and wondering why they are not asking my opinion on what to do because clearly I know the right moves to make from my couch in Oregon. Haha, not really.. because I am none of those.. I don’t have answers. The only thing I am and will forever be is a Loyal Cardinals Fan.
