Why do they keep doing this? Why do they sign below average players

    This season: 4 innings
    10 hits
    6 runs
    5 earned runs
    3 walks
    1 K
    6.48 ERA
They need help with pitching and they pick up this guy. Does Mo realize that he was cut loose for a reason. Maybe because he’s not very good. Schildt will be given this guy and told, “this is the
answer to your pitching problems, Mike. Good luck.” It’s really sickening sometimes to watch the things this organization does.

Perhaps he’s just a filler for the minors so that they can promote someone else…maybe…

I see it as responding to injury depletion most likely. Rather than moving up somebody who is not ready for more advanced competition.

Grasping at unsuckable straws, Cranny…..pardon me….. it’s not accurate to use the words “unsuckable” and “Waddell” in the same sentence. My bad. I think we may be a bit harsh (especially you Nate) with our newest Bird. Let’s give Mr. Waddell ample opportunity to put on display his talents…. I think one game should do it and I hope Shildt/Maddox does the same.

Interesting points and not without merit. Thanks for answering my questions. Have a good day one and all.

Keep in mind, player transfers work two ways. You have to find a team who has a guy the are willing to give up, or have given up. With a depleted pitching staff, you are in a disadvantaged bargaining position as you are desperate for help, and other teams know that.

Now and then a guy from the scrap heap turns out to be a gem. Edwin Mujica was a bit like that. So now and then you bring a guy in and see if a change of scenery helps.

he is a guy you can plug in for emergency and then not care if you have to release him…like so many of the players last year who were up and released… you need a constant supply of these guys or you will kill your farm by pushing guys up too quick

at best he is lottery ticket..at worst he saves an arm or two in a blow out
