DeJong has switched back to no. 11.
December 11, 2019 at 8:00 am #116454Memories of Jerry Buchek, and of course Jose Oquendo. Is Oquendo still in the organization?
December 11, 2019 at 9:40 am #116468I would like to see Goldy switch back to 44. Maybe that would help bring back the old Goldy.
December 11, 2019 at 12:13 pm #116478Didn’t Kenny Reitz get his number retired? I guess we could bring it back for Goldy. By the way, no one can ever convince me this Gregerson guy ever really existed…just a myth in my mind.

No, at least not by the Cardinals. He is not even in the team Hall of Fame.

They have not announced the minor league staffs for 2020 yet, but I expect he will return as a minor league infield instructor.
When Oquendo returned to St. Louis is when DeJong gave up no. 11.
December 11, 2019 at 4:22 pm #116524I think Goldy took number 46 as a good will gesture to Gregerson and of course 45 is retired. Now that Gregerson is gone 44 should be available.
December 11, 2019 at 4:46 pm #116528My assumption is that if Goldschmidt was changing his number, it would have been included in the video.
December 11, 2019 at 4:54 pm #116530That makes sense. Goldy is so humble he probably doesn’t care what number he uses.
December 11, 2019 at 4:54 pm #116531I am sorry to have forgotten the blue font, and Kenny Reitz most assuredly should be in the HOF Brian. Have you seen his 1973 topps card? What criteria are you possibly using?
December 11, 2019 at 7:03 pm #116548Jim Otto’s # 00 is still my favorite all time sports number. What’s shocking is that nobody has copied it after all of these years. I know if I had made it to the bigs, I would have slapped on #00 so quick your head would spin.
December 11, 2019 at 9:22 pm #116560Say what?
December 11, 2019 at 10:17 pm #116565Wasn’t Robert Parish number 00 with the Celtics in the ‘80s?
December 11, 2019 at 10:52 pm #116567Good call bikemike. Parish’s 00 is retired by the Celts. I wonder if Otto was his inspiration?
For something different, how about a fractional number? Maybe wearing 1/9 or 1/25 would work just to show what a distinctive, yet team-oriented guy you are.
